Has anyone else experienced this? Everytime I try to open Mail, it goes unresponsive! I can't do anything to fix it!

Hi Josephkyles,
Its been two years since you posted this, wondering if you found a way of fixing it? I have the same issue with mail on the same Imac. I am also having problems with the mac mail in my iphone may be as a side effect.
Any clue would be welcome.

I agree with Sedulous. Quit Mail. Move the file com.apple.mail.plist from ~/Library/Preferences (where ~ denotes your Home folder) to your Desktop. Try Mail again. If the problem is resolved, you can trash the file you moved to the Desktop. If not, you can move it back.

Thanks PLZ and Sedulous, I tried that but didn't find the file:

com.apple.mail.plist

on my Library/Preferences.
I tried moving MailAccounts.plist which is saved under

Library/Mail/AcountTypes/com.apple.builtin.mailaccounts

but that didnt seem to work.

Mail keeps unresponsive, I have to Force Quit it everytime.
Any more ideas?

Yes. Look for com.apple.mail.plist in the Library/Preferences folder inside your Home folder. It has to be there! Then move it to your Desktop and restart Mail.
