Why would Apple do this to public beta testers. Do they have confidence the dev beta is not too buggy, like a public beta?
It's still developer beta but now available with the free dev account instead of a paid membership. It's still not recommended for anyone to install.

It was too easy to find the betas on day one. You couldn't stop people who weren't developers from getting the profile download. There were even websites devoted to beta profiles (one is still very active, though not updated as of today)

Kudos to Apple for doing this!

Just renewed yesterday since it says it just expired and needed to renew to access. Looks like should have waited one more day. Oh well, at least for next year. Love however, how they now offer it free, and still a lot of people attempting to find a way to try to put a negative spin on it.

Do we understand why it's randomly like this now? Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful! I thought it was a bug I got lucky with, but like also, why did they randomly make it free? Why not keep it the same beta for everyone if they're gonna make both versions available for everyone?

So how does that work? Do I just cancel auto renewal (due next week) and it switches it over automatically?
Yes, since you're already signed in to the dev portal... You will automatically get the free items on the list one of which is betas.

wasn't it always free? i'm confused, but i've been downloading the betas since making and unpaid dev account.

It still says "Beta software is intended only for installation on development devices registered under your Apple Developer Program membership. For complete instructions, read Installing Apple Beta Software" above the list of ipsw files despite giving access to them.

How does one make it so the Developer betas don't show up at all in Settings? I've got two phones and two Apple IDs...one shows the Developer betas, and the other shows nothing at all. (Nothing shows up on my parents' phones either.)

Out of curiosity, I logged into developer.apple.com with the Apple ID that shows nothing. I accepted the terms and conditions, and now the two developer betas are showing. (I probably accepted the terms years ago with my other account.)

To show/hide the Public beta option, one has to enroll/unenroll at beta.apple.com. There doesn't seem to be an unenroll option for the developer betas at developer.apple.com, or am I missing it somewhere?

Sadly, that's a tradition here. Always gotta stick it to the Man (Apple) in order to feel pumped.

This is my question too, I have public betas and developer betas showing. Public betas I can unenroll from public betas, but can’t see anywhere to unenroll for the developer beta. I could see iOS 16 developer betas when I didn’t have a paid developer account, logged it with support to see how it could be removed but got no where with support.

I'm seeing Sonoma on the developer website, but only a link to download the Silicon Mac image. No Intel image to download?
