I pretty much agree but I include environmentalism in safety (plus a couple other considerations), and with the world going through smartphones like Kleenex, it is alarming. And with worn batteries being a typical reason (or excuse?) for upgrading phones, this is one regulation I can support. Environmental impact is one of those things that has very serious consequences that market forces probably cannot prevent, so regulation is required. The regulations are stupid. No government should be able to force these things which don't have to do with safety.
But using regulation just to force one's phone to suit one’s particular wants, I totally disagree with. That’s exactly what market forces are for.
