Apple has made season one of mystery drama "Home Before Dark" available to watch for free on Apple TV+ for a limited time, no subscription required.

The official announcement, delivered on Saturday in a tweet, comes three weeks after the conclusion of the second season.

"Home Before Dark" is a drama series about Hilde Lisko, a child journalist who published a newspaper called the Orange Street News in her hometown of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.

The series follows the young girl as she moves from Brooklyn to the small lakeside town her father is from, where she unearths a cold case that everyone else in the town had attempted to bury.
A mystery inspired by the reporting of a real nine-year-old journalist. When a young girl and her family move back to the small town her father left behind, her pursuit of the truth leads to the unearthing of a long-buried cold case.
In real life, Hilde Lysiak was the first to report on a murder in her town of Selinsgrove, which gave her paper, Orange Street News, national and international media attention. Season 2 premiered on June 11.

Apple TV+‌ is available for a $4.99 per month subscription for the whole family, though Apple offers a free year of service with the purchase of an iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod touch, or Apple TV.

I really like Apple TV+, except for this show. It’s well made technically, but the story is meh.
Acting is pretty lame. I just don’t buy the whole smart 8yr old schict who talks like an adult. Not sure how stranger things (which I love) they pulled it off maybe because the kids were older and better acting and they acted and spoke like their age.

They should make all their older seasons free. Perfect compromise between offering a free service and a paid one. At least whist the vast majority of their profits still comes from hardware.

All of Apple TV was free to watch and I still had no interest in the offerings. Whenever I had a moment to spare and wanted to watch something I found better things on YouTube even. The sad part is that it's relatively easy to navigate, no need to worry about content expiring, etc.

I think that America’s general public don‘t like kids, and they like smart kids even less. Many “smart kid” type TV shows have been canceled. Believe and The Gifted would be examples of that.

An average Joe just want to hear that kids are dumb and teenagers are hopeless, and they know it all. They will tell you that kids are a waste of time, and not worth it when you end up paying child support and alimony.

It is announced now?

A week ago I watched the first episode free as it said, but then I thought it was a bug when it continued on to the second, and the third.. I thought it was a bug. 😅

Everyone in my family watched both seasons individually, and everyone loved it. It’s a thrilling and beautiful show.

The story is fantastic, and we never noticed acting to be bad. It was amazing by the lead actor at some moments.

I watched the first season recently. There are better shows and there are worse shows. The acting is generally good (although a couple of the children actors aren’t great but few children are great actors). The writing is pedestrian but much better than a lot of other shows. Because the main character is 9, just recognize this is geared towards tweens and teens. I’m much older (at least age-wise) and enjoyed it.

Sounded like an interesting concept, but the way the kid acts in the trailer looks completely ridiculous. I’ll pass.

If you want to see amazingly believable acting this kid did, watch the Florida project.

Not their best show. Tried a couple of times to get into it but it just wasn’t doing it for me at all. TV+ has some cool if sparse content, but even at £5pcm it’s a luxury rather than a necessity. Will join up from time-to-time but for me it’s not worth a regular subscription anymore. Better to wait until they have aired an entire new season of a show rather than string it along for 10-12 weeks twiddling my thumbs until Friday. Take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves, and all that.

Kids are neither smart toddlers nor stupid adults, but they can contain both of those things much and more. I don't have much trouble with most of the kids' dialogue, except maybe some of Donny's comic relief. And it's easy to see that as a quirk of the character.
