So basically you're walking around with wifi enabled and you get a login screen around the hotspots? If you have 3g why don't you leave wifi switched off unless you need it, wouldn't that stop the problem?

A better solution is to 'Forget this network' on PCCW and PCCW1x. But it does make that 28 HKD a month rather wasted.

Yeah but 3g networks are still much faster in HK than anywhere in North America, that was my simple point.

Not true. On a recent trip to Canada and the US, i found that their 3G speeds (telus in Canada, ATT in the US) are far superior to 3HK's speeds. When I could get a signal, that is. Coverage is definitely better here but 3's speeds are just terrible.
