Turn-by-turn is just as good on Apple. Google maps does seem to have better POI, I will get them that. If you use an Apple Watch you can't beat the integration with Apple maps.
I guess a lot of it depends on where you are. I've found that where I live, the POIs are actually fairly comparable to Google, but the routing on Apple Maps takes you on some strange routes that clearly don't make sense if you know the area. I still from time to time go back and compare routing to Google and this is the worst part for me.
Apple went with their own maps as Google Maps on iOS - for whatever reason(s) - did not have turn-by-turn directions. Personally I'd like Apple Maps to have Street View and Google Maps to have 3D buildings....
Are you actually using Apple Maps? Since last year Google can't hold a candle to Maps. The difference is night and day in Apples favor. As a daily user and pizza delivery driver, I can tell you Apple is far more accurate the google maps. Our iPhone users use their phones with no issues and direct to door turn by turn. More driver actually have android and they stopped using theirs because it didn't work. Several tried talking me out of using my phone because of their Googld experience. Of course if you enter the wrong address you will go wrong. Even the traffic and accidents are factored in and automatically adjusted.
I thought they would consider fixing the massive coverage gaps in central London (e.g. west of Hyde Park) before the likes of Nottingham would be added.
I don't understand why it takes so long. Surely a couple of fly bys in a special plane are all that are required?
Apple Maps is hopelessly behind competition. Instead of concentrating on gimmicky features they should get their act together and be up-to-date!
Apple's Map Data is stale, inaccurate and incomplete! Their Satellite imaging is 2 years old, road data is hopeless and yet they spend their time on window dressing.
At this rate they will never catch up with Google Maps and what really annoys me is that I cannot select Google Maps as the default map application.
