There's no simple answer. Google Maps still has far more worldwide road and POI data and in general it is more accurate. They also have Street View, while Apple is just getting started on that. Most people feel Google Maps still has a better handle on traffic.

But I still use Apple Maps almost all of the time now. It's cleaner, runs smoother, is far better integrated with the phone, watch, and CarPlay. The quality of the maps and traffic info has improved drastically from the early days. For me, it is generally indistinguishable from Google Maps now, and better for most of my needs. But I live in Northern California, which is always the first place Apple updates.

Also, Apple's implementation of street view is substantially better than Google Maps from a quality standpoint, but right now it only covers three locations, so it's hardly more than a demo of what is to come. But I'm excited about where that is heading.

Same here, and same location! I always have to remember to curb my enthusiasm for Apple Maps when telling non-Bay Areans about it.

My honest opinion- no matter how much I have tried to switch to apple maps based on the simple fact of integration, it has never been as good as google maps for me, especially for traffic accuracy. I may give it another go with ios 13.1 but I do not have high hopes as of now based on prior experiences.

Would love to hear if anyone did switch recently with ios13 and if they see real improvements or not.

Same here. I tried the other day to use Apple Maps. Just didn’t work for me.
I still don’t like the Apple Maps interface. Google is still king.

I have 4 choices for navigation/maps in my car with CarPlay - Apple Maps (which I've always called Mapple), Google Maps, Waze, and my built-in Honda navigation. There are things I like best about each of them, and I find myself going back and forth. I do have to admit that Mapple is far superior to what it was even a year or two ago.

There’s simply no comparison. Google Maps is better by almost every measure. And I don’t even think about driving anywhere that’s further then 10 mins away without using Waze for both the crowd sourced police warnings and back roads navigation if needed. Apple maps is almost criminally inferior.

Apple maps better for direction getting to destinations faster but google maps better for finding restaurants or places etc thats my experience

The perennial question asked yet again: is Apple Maps any better now in iOS13 when compared against Google Maps?
I will never use Apple Maps until they have a search along the route option where you can input text and search for a specific place. Can’t believe Apple Maps doesn’t have this feature now but it is really a second class map application.

Apple maps has really improved over the years. The turn by turn audio instructions are now very good, sometimes better than both Waze and Google. But it also is true Waze is probably best for driving due to its driver-focused features and crowdsource info, and Google maps has excellent supporting information. It’s too early to tell if 13.1 has any dramatic Apple Maps improvements.

100% this.

Only thing I don’t like about google maps is that it doesn’t show speed limits like Apple maps does.
?
I was using Gm all day yesterday and it was showing speed limit signs.

Google Maps rolled out speed limits earlier this year. Not sure if it’s available everywhere yet though. Speed limits show up for me about 80-90% of the time here in San Diego. Some roads/sections of roads don't have speed limit info yet.

I do wish Apple Maps was better but it isn’t. I would prefer to use Apple over Google.

Easy answer. No. Tried to test Apple maps last few weeks and it’s just not up to par with google maps. The routing is not as good. The traffic is nowhere near as accurate as google maps. Google maps have more poi. Google maps recently cleaned up the visuals and look cleaner. Was hoping 13.1 would improved Apple maps but it’s pretty much the same old.

It works fine for me, although I wish it allowed you to use the satellite view during turn by turn navigation. It does tend to ignore gates and tells you to make a left turn when only a right turn is allowed which can be a bit annoying. Google is usually better with that, but for the most part it works perfectly fine. I’ve used Apple maps since iOS 6 and other than those small annoyances it’s been fine.
