I got myself into a real mess once. Hit a complete road closure in the middle of no where with no cell signal. I couldn’t even pull up a map to manually navigate. I ended up having to just guess which way to go until I got some cell signal.Apple Maps needs an offline mode. Like fully offline, downloaded to the device maps - not "we cached it when you started driving" mode.
A REAL question. I’d much rather know about those than a work zone.Traffic cams, speed traps and cop ambushes?
I have red light notifications on my Apple Maps in Canada.I think they added alerts when there's a cop seen hiding out but so far nothing on speed or red light cams.
They never included Waze features in google maps. I’ve been traveling a lot this past couple of months and usually a friend of mine has waze open while I use google. One time Waze did save us a lot of time but the other times Google was better.Google owns Waze so not sure why the navigation would be worse than Google and I don't see them ever partnering with Apple.
Until Apple Maps can notify me of cops…..noIs this better than Waze?
That's not new. I've been seeing that for some months now. Unless I was unwittingly part of an early rollout test.Already tested it on the road today. Siri just prompt me alert Hazard on the highway and I have the option to click "Cleared" or "Still there". Don't remember the exact words but gave me two buttons.
This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever of why you would need to know where law-enforcement is posted. If you’re following laws in accordance, then why would you need to know where the police are located. Think about that for a minute.Until Apple Maps can notify me of cops…..no
Males complete sense. Traffic cops are income generators who hand out BS tickets. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever of why you would need to know where law-enforcement is posted. So if someone is going through an active school zone with kids present, and the driver got a hefty fine for being 15 mph over the speed limit then that is a bs ticket. Do you know what stops these so called bs and it is a simple, very simple thing to do? That is don’t run red lights (someone in Las Vegas) did that maybe 2 months ago and 9 people minding their business lost their lives or the LV Raider that killed that 23 year old young lady got to burn to death because someone though it was cool to speed at 156 mph but by the time he spotted her and got the brakes locked the impact was 127 mph. Extreme cases yes. People died though plus all of the drunk drivers or high on something, those people should get a BS ticket plus a long jail sentence and not nothing plea bargained down to a slap on the wrist. I am not berating you or your opinion, those are your rights to feel the way you do and perhaps you have had a great reason. I said what I said to speak out for people who no longer can. If I have offended you that was never my intention and I offer my apologies.Males complete sense. Traffic cops are income generators who hand out BS tickets.
Further, Apple Maps already notifies us where traffic cameras are located. Why does it do that?
( x ) doubtThere is red light camera alerts here in Tx. I am not sure about other locations though.
Yes! It's so freaking useless. I sit at a red light waiting to confirm that there's some kind of hazard up ahead, and the dialog expires before i even approach the area. ?Now that I'm driving a ton more, my one beef with incident reports in Apple Maps is that they throw out a request for confirmation (ie: is the hazard still there), but that confirmation dialog ("still here" or "cleared") expires before I even reach the hazard location.
Way?Way is way better still I want the speed trap notifications and I’m not getting that on apple.
Just click on the icon it dropped and it pops back up.Yes! It's so freaking useless. I sit at a red light waiting to confirm that there's some kind of hazard up ahead, and the dialog expires before i even approach the area. ?
I hardly use Apple Maps, simply because I bike a lot. And Apple Maps is terrible for bikers, simply because it doesn't come with bicycle routes.
Hadn't noticed that. But definitely too fiddly to do when the car's moving.Just click on the icon it dropped and it pops back up.
I always thought weird routing was Waze's "thing".Yeah I have been using apple maps and google more over Waze lately. Waze has been weird with routing.
