Apple Maps now provides lane guidance in five additional countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

While navigating with Apple Maps via iPhone or CarPlay in those countries, a set of directional arrows will now appear at the top of the screen that indicate which lane your vehicle should be in to exit a freeway or complete a turn.

Apple Maps lane guidance has been available in the United States and China since iOS 11. The feature began rolling out in additional regions alongside the iOS 11.2 beta, and the countries are now reflected on Apple's iOS feature availability page.

Apple Maps still shows speed limits in the United States and United Kingdom only.

(Thanks, David!)

This is great, now they just need to work on getting the speed limits around the UK up to date. Almost every journey I make the phone says it’s a faster limit than it actually is, particularly 30 in a 20 and 60 in a 50.
Integration with variable speed limits would be pretty sweet too.

I live in the UK and the lane guidance feature is currently working to a limited extent in iOS 11.1.x already.

I did extensive driving last weekend and there were a couple of places the guidance arrows and Siri’s commands referenced the lanes that I needed to be in.

It didn’t happen at all junctions (maybe it doesn’t always anyway).

Thats good to know. Thank you for that. I really loved this feature in Google Maps for iOS, but needed the native support. Glad it's finally in the UK :)

As much as I want this map to be successful, I never ever trust Apple for my turn by turn direction anymore. I thought this map is only suck in the country side. There’s no excuse for a bigger cities anymore knowing that they’re supposed to get more data from users and their own team. From now on Google is my go to map and Apple will be playing catch up forever. If you’re visiting a place you’re not familiar with don’t put your life with Apple Map.

I used Apple Maps thinking it would be great at the beginning of October across country. First mistake there. It was ok from Chicago to the border of Texas. From there it went down the tubes. It wanted me to take backroads all the way down to Houston, and then continue on back roads to San Antonio, tacking on an additional 2.56 hours. Needless to say Google Maps was the savior.

Google Maps has had lane guidance for some time in the UK.

But in general, I prefer Apple Maps as the UI is cleaner and the directions tend to better (less likely to send you off on crazy rat-runs through back streets). So it's great that Apple is adding this feature!

I wish I could permanently delete it off my phone.

You can in iOS 11, but may run into a problem later when you need to work with addresses.
[doublepost=1511199675][/doublepost]A great addition, noticed it working in France last week. Speed limits are helpful, but not as crucial, imo. What would be great, however, is adding some user feedback ability similar to Waze. More importantly, they need to speed up correction of map errors reported by the users.

Sweet Apple Maps. Suggesting an 11h trip with public transport while there’s a direct train in 1h. But they don’t have that info yet. Because Apple in Belgium does not support Transit. Or Lane Assist or Speed Limits. And let’s not forget predictive input, Siri on ATV, the TV app, the News app, Apple Pay and so many other things.

Luckily we get a 10% discount in the Apple Store. Only kidding: we pay even more than in the US

Any Scottish members out there? Getting ready for a trip to Skye this December and debating buying/updating my dedicated dash nav or using Apple Maps. Use Maps exclusively here in the US/Can without issue, but know it will/can be different over there. Wondering about the accuracy...will be spending most of my time in Scotland. Thanks for any response in advance.
