AAA still has paper road maps. One can write notes on the map as needed.

If the map is stored at your house, then the data is safe.....

Except for the detail that the cell phone is continuously tracked and the only way to avoid that is to have the cell phone turned OFF or leave it at home.....

I knew years ago in the 80s that there was a new intermediary in the internet pipeline now called NSA.

As cell phone usage skyrocketed, we knew the travel track could be reconstructed by seeing the towers used by your cell phone. This detail is used in nearly every murder mystery to track both victims and protagonists.

The cell phone is ALWAYS listening when powered on and maybe even when powered off. NSA now has that information as well. The intelligent watch with cell connection does the same thing.

Surveillance state is in full operation and has been for years. Why the sudden surprise?

Don't think they're trying to vilify - just creating content

IF they really wanted to vilify Apple, App Store taking down the ICE Block app is right there.

Which they're avoiding, seeing as major press circles have picked up that story already. Suppose it's for the best - that thread would be a moderation nightmare.

It does make one wonder how we're supposed to trust Apple that this data is encrypted. Seeing how eager Tim is to bow down.

Will missing principles return or will Tim appease Epstein's best friend who's waging war on civilians? Stay tuned

Looks like Significant Places are used internally, such as for stolen device protection, and Visited Places allows other apps access to that information?

"You May Be Logging Places You Visit On Apple Maps – How to Disable"

Fixed it. There is a pop-up when you open Apple Maps for the first time on iOS 26 that gives you this option. It is opt-in. The author is making it seem like this is something malicious.
To be fair, there are tons of pop-ups that appear when you update your iPhone. I’m neither a senior nor a kid, yet I honestly don’t remember seeing that one or tapping “OK.” So I was surprised to read this article. While I don’t always agree with every MacRumors post, especially those sneaky ads disguised as articles, this one was a good reminder to check and turn that tracking off.
