Unfortunately, opening Apple Maps is the equivalent of opening Windows Explorer.

I was talking to someone yesterday who was using Apple Maps for his GPS while driving. It worked perfectly (thankfully - I was a passenger), but I asked him about it. I asked him why he used Apple Maps over (let's face it, the superior Google Maps) and he said: "Google secretly monitors you. That's why Apple made their own version -- to protect their customers from privacy invasion".

Just. Wow.
