I don't know what it's like in America, I've never been, and am never likely to visit. You guys do you, just try to remember that you're not everyone...

I love this update to Apple Maps. I never even touch Google Maps any more, expect for when I need a specific aspect of Google Earth for work.

Thing is, these areas are disputed amongst the various indigenous groups. And many, many places have indigenous names anyway, because the white settlers used them.cSo thankfully that reduces the amount of new text to a degree on the maps.
But, these often take up more space on the map. (Maybe it’s because I use a 13 mini and my CarPlay head unit is old with a 6.8 inch screen. I want to see roads and locations clearly with minimal distractions. More text isn’t helpful and it makes things fiddly adjusting it.
And thirdly and most importantly, in Australia it seems the whole team updating Apple Maps, whether it is error correction or heavens above Look Around, seems to be a part time, blind geriatric that needs a lot of sleep, with a three legged support dog.

It suggests the wrong priorities.

When do we get a map of globalist occupied regions like Canada where the World Economic Forum has "penetrated the cabinets" if they don't already run the parties outright?

It's a political push and people are getting sick of it. Even if you agree with the general vibe of it, the sheer quantity is nauseating. Recently I flew from Perth to Melbourne. Qantas when waiting at the gates had the Aboriginal Name for Melbourne and you had to wait 30 seconds for it to switch back. So confusing when in a hurry when half the gates have names <1% of the population know. When we landed we had the new Lord's prayer "We pay respects to elders past and present, and emerging". Then I had to get the sky bus to the CBD (Downtown for Americans). Then I got the new lord's prayer again, but this time with the embellishment that "Skybuys recognised that the land was never ceded and never will be". My god I had not even got to my final destination, and had this propaganda shoved down my throat three times! Now when I open Apple maps it's going to be a convoluted and crowded mess with redundant names. Oh, joy!

In NZ a number of locations are listed as "English Name / Maori Name", or, because consistency is nonexistent, "Maori Name / English Name" or "English Name (Maori Name)". It does this regardless of whether "Always show labels in English" is enabled.

I do look forward to something similar coming to Canada. It can be useful information and is just interesting to know for nosey folk like myself

It’s atrocious how simple things in Maps for North America are not correct or updated for a while 😩
And that is why I still use Google maps. The number of times Apple Maps has let me and my family down is simply not acceptable. I gave up trying it after so called updates.

You wouldn’t enjoy living in Canada or the US where a lot of signage flips between English/French or English/Spanish lol 😂

Who is getting sick of it? One Nation voters?
The number of people who are sick of it are greatly exaggerated.

It’s actually a cool part of Australian culture. I can land in Melbourne and learn that it’s also referred to as “Naarm”, and the land was where the Wurundjeri (sp?) people live.

Now ask me how the indigenous people north of Toronto referred to themselves, and I have no idea.
