I used the maps for turn by turn today was very impressed with it. I love that I can use another app and it shows up top in the notification area what the next turn is, when you lock the home screen it auto wakes up and stays on to show you the next turn. I love it and its potential. I know there are bugs, but hello, I couldn't do this with the old google maps app. That's why purchased navigon two years ago. So, I always have a backup to apple maps. People need to give it some time and stop all the whining. We never had turn by turn before unless we downloaded another app in the past. Apple will clearly make the maps app superior with all the attention that's been paid to it. I can live with that.

Used it for the first time today, and it got me where I needed to go, I'm happy with it.

I've used it 5 times in the DFW area. It's been correct once.

1 out of 5=not the best.

FYI. Google was right 4 out of 5

Dont understand all the rage and fury about a version 1 product. What data did google have when they released the maps? Just road names.

Apple maps looks great, is significantly smoother to interact with and seems to use less data. POI will be there within a few months of aggregation but whiners will keep whining and nothing can change that.

Don't get me wrong, I love apple maps, I would just like to clarify that the rage is from the fact that apple's maps were not as capable as google's, yet they still replaced them. Saying that Apple's maps are still new isn't exactly a defending point when they are replacing something that is better and could easily have been used for another year-or-so while apple's maps matured and evolved. It's like throwing out your Xbox 360 and buying a playstation 1 and accepting the downgrade because the playstation came out earlier than the 360, so you couldn't expect it to be any better.

Google maps had turn by turn?

Google maps had turn by turn?

Exactly. I don't understand how all these people on here used google maps and drove at the same time. Isn't that a little dangerous? I mean having to constantly be hitting the screen for the next turn and watching the screen without any announcements? I mean come on, most Apple users aren't cheap a$$es. Like I said, I bought Navigon a couple years ago for the convenience, safe usage, and really accurate traveling. Google maps may have been accurate for directions, but it was not useful if you're trying to drive and find your way at the same time. Very unsafe in my opinion, and what if you took a wrong turn? Did it reroute you instantly? I mean come on and stop all the griping just because Apple took a crappy app away....
