Do you think Apple will get into the movie-streaming business and offer a streaming-subscription, like Apple Music, but with content from iTunes movies library?

Would be awesome to have everything in the same place, music, images and movies, don't you think?

The closest thing we have is the rental model Apple does.. Apple's trying such a service, but it's not working to their advantage as they are finding out.

Personally, i think they'll have better luck with with what their currently doing, TV networks offer apps u install on Apple TV, which we do already..

Only disadvantage is not everyone will go for that either.... but at least, Apple has a shot if this since they have this already with netflix, Hulu, HBO Now etc..... rather than a TV subscription (call it skinny if u like but they'll still be channels no -one wants), at least now u CAN choose what app/services u want, where as a TV subscription u don't have a choice,,, u get em all.. so, i hope Apple doesn't do a TV service.... Quite frankley, it would be worse off. As a side-line, maybe, "Apple producing their own content" which is not much better either.. It's hardly Hollywood style...

The thought of Apple doing this may sound ok,, but since TV networks are giving Apple 'a run for it's money', it won't happen.... TV Networks hate steaming...as a bundle outside of a cable service..

I reckon the only advantage is what apps..... keep customers happy since they only get the app they want to stream from... The only other disadvantage is you'll be paying multiple fees for multiple network services to those companies.... but "putting all your eggs in one basket" does sound like a good dream to come true.

Well Netflix, HBO, Amazon and Hulu are already doing it so I'm not sure why Apple couldn't release a similar movie- & serie streaming service?

These services are extremely limited by licensing agreements on the content and time frame they can stream. This is NOTHING like the stream (almost) everything anytime music services. Just try watching Star Wars on Netflix.;)

Of course, there's a transition period, like it was with music, albeit it's taking a bit longer. I think the movie industry will realize sooner or later that streaming is the future and that they will lose out on a lot of money if they don't make it available on streaming-services..

But they already do make them available. What do you think Apple could do differently/better than Netflix? I guess I don't understand the benefit of getting everything "from the same place". Why not simply pick and choose the best services regardless who offers them?

I like this idea and really would love to see something along these lines come out of Apple. At the very least, it would be awesome for TV shows. I'm fine renting/buying movies but I feel like Apple would get a lot more of my money each month with an Apple Music-ified TV shows offering. If anyone could do something like this, it would be Apple. Here's an interesting article arguing for something like this.

I don't care who offers them, as long as I don't have to bother with the part about picking and choosing services. As it is now, I have to remember what show comes from where, the apps are all different and inconsistent in layout/quality, and it's generally a pain in the neck. Not the worst thing, but still annoying. I know the Apple TV has better search functions with Siri and the like, but it's still not great. A single, simplified interface that has *most* of what I want to watch really is the ideal for me at least, however unlikely it might be.

I know Apple essentially already has that with iTunes, and I do use it a lot as I'm a cord cutter, but at the same time, it lacks discovery. I'm not going to buy something new that I haven't seen before, since that could easily just be money down the drain. However, now that I have Apple Music, I find myself listening to and discovering more artists than I ever really did before, due to the fact that there's really no risk involved on my end. In turn, Apple is overall getting more money from me per month than I ever was spending on music with them before. Something like that for TV shows would be awesome, at some point.

Which sucks that no movie service can be like that anytime soon. It's that limitation that annoys me so much about Netflix (especially Canadian Netflix.) I want a movie service that has a complete library of movies at all times. It's pretty lame that I can't log into Netflix and watch something like Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure if I wanted to.

But isn't that exactly what Hulu does? Still not sure I understand the question.
