I upgraded my AW4 to AW5 cellular this year so I could run without my phone. I’ve just used the Shazam offer to get 6. Moths AM for free

i can’t figure out how to stream music. I click library and I only see what’s on my phone. Even with Bluetooth off.
I can’t figure out how to stream it for the life of me

any tips?

thx

Not sure you can play music from Apple Watch speaker but, you can open the music app on your watch and control music on your phone or headphones.

I’m not trying to do that. I’ve got AirPod pros

it’s controlling music in my phone. Even with Bluetooth off. I don’t want any phone interaction. It’s a cellular watch and I want to play and browse Apple Music songs on my watch independent of the phone

Just ask siri ...
Siri will definitely play the songs from my watch to AirPods. Is that the only way to play music? You can’t browse an artist from the watch?

Wow, no browsing on the watch? What’s the point then if you still have to add stuff with your phone? Now I’m even more glad I didn’t get the cellular model.

You can ask Siri to play any track still, and anything in your library can be played on the watch without the phone. - Though I didn't get the cellular either. Always have my phone or on wi-fi anyway

I run every day so wanted to go phone free. The XS max is way too heavy especially the case 8 have on it

If I am near my phone it plays whatever the phone is doing. Have to put my phone on airplane mode at gym and the Apple Music streams lte on my watch. I can browse anything that was shared from my phone, works quite well.

When I am on a walk/run I leave my phone in the car. I can stream music via Siri, and on the watch itself, the closest thing to browsing is the "for you" thing that is pretty good if you are a heavy Apple Music user, at least I think so. That said normally i have playlists that I have built on my phone and they sync ahead of time so it becomes moot, but sometimes you just need a different vibe. I am horrible at remembering names so the siri thing is tough for me. I am sure as things advance it will be more complete.

to the OP ...

Apple Watch ... are you jumping to 'now playing' or 'music'?

Music will allow you to swipe top to bottom to get the root of music ... I don't stream yet I can find music/playlists I've sync'd to the watch and play directly from the watch to AirPods Pro (and any other BT headphones I have), is there not an option by this method to stream Apple Music?

Thx. I’ll look

I also hoped to play stuff that doesn’t specifically has to be synced on the watch, but it doesn’t seem to be possible. Like, when I’m working out and want to hear THAT particular song, I can only ask Siri, which I find a bit embarrassing to talk to your watch in public.

hmm. Embarrassing?

where were you when Bluetooth microphones debuted? Surely you must’ve thought sone people were crazy like all of us, only to later get over it. Likewise I’m sure you will get over this.

remember most others in the gym are focused in their own worl, for their own gains, and have no intention paying any mind to yours ;)

now the most important thing to remember is “it’s still your M-F set!” (C.T.Fletcher), now get it!!

Sorry, no Knight Rider style for me. Using Hey Siri or OK Google in public is frowned upon here and I only do it when nobody is around. Same goes for sending or listening to voice messages in public transportation or public environments where anybody can hear it. It's just considered not polite.
Maybe nobody cares in the states but here in Europe, most people won't do this. Of course there are always a few odd ones that record endless whatsapp voice messages in public transportation, talking about very private things and everybody has to listen, but most of the time, we know that we look dumb talking to our watches or holding the phone in front of our mouths (WHY do people do this?!) so we just don't ;-)

Well, to be honest, when Bluetooth earpieces (that are barely recognizable and appear to be a tiny hearing aid) started being mainstream I'd see someone who to me appeared to be talking to himself, and walked away slowly...Yet, Bluetooth headsets/earpieces are quite common today. Watches will eventually be normal to be spoken to. To me it's the Star Trek dream coming true.
