Why not roll this into Apple Music? Will every genre get their own app? Seems weird.
Search works in a different way with classical, because classical music is organized a different way. Trying to find specific classical things using Apple Music is an exercise in uselessness. Not so in Apple Classical Music.

Now do the same for other genres of music - e.g. electronic music with long sets and multiple remixes - or fix the music app.
To do that you also need good metadata. The valuable thing Apple bought when they bought Primephonic wasn't the technology or the code, it was a massive, detailed, accurate classical metadata library. If there's a corresponding resource for electronic music, maybe Apple could buy it too, but without accurate metadata, search will always stink.

Is anyone out there having trouble playing Apple Music on older devices today? My iPhone 6 running iOS 12 is having trouble, keeps saying album not available.

I am still waiting for the Apple TV Android app. Lots of purchases from iTunes I would love to be able to watch on other devices... you can do it, Apple! Maybe Apple should hold a bake sale to fund the development!
It’s available for Google/Android TV but yeah, annoying it’s not available for Android phones/tablets yet.

As long as the Android app isn't optimised for tablets it's not that weird I think. I agree that there should be an iPad and macOS app though. Probably they're working on that.

Although not optimised/customised, it does support landscape mode on Android tablets...

Come on! The biggest tech company in the world can’t release an app for all of its own platforms at launch date?

There’s zero excuse for that. Because now they are admitting it takes a long time to get it right for each and every platform.

Or there’s only one guy working on it. The guy from the iTunes Remote app.

Still no offline downloading of music? Very strange. Then again apple maps still can not download offline maps ( like google maps)

You can download songs in Apple Music. I find music in AM Classical, add it to my library and then download in AM if I want it offline. That’s a little clunky but it keeps everything together that I want to keep, rather than having downloads across two apps.

I’m not saying that’s the best way to do that. The libraries and listening history are linked across apps so it seems like it would be fairly straightforward to manage downloads from either app.

I think Apple Music Classical is great for a classical music listener.
Just in this moment the third movement of Mozart's Piano Trio in B-flat Major is playing on my paired HomePod minis in my home office.
While I understand the early foray into Android, I really do miss the app on the other Apple platforms, especially macOS.

Only grudge I hold is actually the integration with standard Apple Music. I think they should really have kept the apps completely separate. In addition to Classical Music, I also love Rock 'n' Roll Music in the broader sense with forays into Pop, Country and even Metal. In the past, I primarily used Apple Music for that. Now the Replay Playlists and Recommendations are kind of messed up and it's a mishmash of Classical Music and all the other stuff I listen to, which kind of doesn't add up.
In my 2023 Replay playlist U2's Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses is now followed by Mozart's Bassoon Concerto in B-flat Major, First Movement. What the hell?

I just wish, they had tied all the classical stuff to the Classical Music app and all the rest to Apple Music. At least, it is not a crossover into the other direction, Bruce Springsteen's Moonlight Motel appearing in my Beethoven Piano Sonata playlist right next to the Moonlight Sonata would have been a bit much - even though I likewise appreciate both artists.

No mystery: far more Android users than iPad or Mac users. Apple pursues MONEY before niche opportunities... even its own.

Why iTunes on Windows way back in the day? Same. And that opened iPod up to the gigantic PC world, which exploded iPod, which created the revenue wave that led to things like iPhone, etc.

All seemingly odd decisions and/or even anti-consumer scenarios are about the money.
Sure lots of users but will they use it? I sniffed around the Classical app on my iPhone enough to determine I don't have that much interest in using it on such a small screen. Waiting for the iPad version.

Meanwhile the song I played yesterday from Music on my Mac doesn't show up in play history on my iPhone. Not sure who is thinking what at Apple.

Apple really do move in mysterious ways…

Why Android before an iPad or Mac app?

I re-subscribed to Apple Music solely to enjoy Apple Music Classical… but as I use my Mac far more often for music listening, without a Mac app I'll probably let my subscription go.
It's probably based on usage and commercial success.

My Mac is my home stereo. A shame I can’t use this app unless I stream it from my phone.

Phil Schiller comes out of semi-retirement to take the stage and say…”do you guys not have iPhones?!”

Apparently even Apple knows there’s more money in Android than there is in the iPad and Mac market…sadly…
