Only 25 (now 26) comments, huh. Ten million downloads seems like a pretty good number for Apple Music on *gasp* ANDROID! Good news means less material for the normal MR forums trolls.

Apple now with the annual $99 music card, puts the service at about $8.25 per month or 2 months free. If you switch to Apple Music and do the 90 days free, you basically end up with 15 months of music for $99. Not Bad!

I have actually used the Apple App on Android and I found it worked pretty smooth. If I was running Android I could certainly deal with it over Google Music.

When did Apple Music change to $99 a year? I thought it was $9.99 a month for individuals and $14.99 a month for families?

I'm mildly impressed by this. I haven't payed much attention to the total user counts, since on iOS devices it is built into the stock music app and lots of iPhone users (like me) probably just wanted to give it a try for a while. Android adoption on the other hand is completely voluntary (user-installed), and likely gives a stronger indicator of the actual demand for the service.

I always get a kick out of Apple on what sales information they choose to release - I have yet to see the iPad Pro 12" sales numbers OR the Apple Watch sales numbers ... hmmm, I wonder why that is?

I think the number would be more interesting if we knew the conversion rate to new subscriptions. I suspect a high percentage of these are already-subscribed iPhone users who want to install Apple Music on Android tablets or add Android phones to existing family plans.

How long will Spotify survive at this rate?

Spotify could survive as a worth competitor to Apple Music. Given Apple Music is doing really well despite coming in very late to the party. I think Google Play Music and Pandora will begin to feel the brunt of Apple Music's presence
