Apple Music frequently skips multiple tracks of an album

Over the past 6 months, Apple Music will frequently skip up to half of the tracks of an album. In some cases it will just jump a few tracks after a track has ended, and in some cases it will play the first few seconds of the next track before skipping 2-3 tracks ahead. This happens several times a day and only on macOS. It happened on Mojave and now on Catalina too. I don't have shuffle turned on and my internet is excellent.

Is anybody else experiencing something similar?

I experienced that once and I wonder if it had to do with poor data in that area.

That’s what I suspected but it happens on two MBPs on two excellent networks. The increasing lack of error states on Apple products, even though unintended track skipping is definitely an error, makes it hard to troubleshoot.

Don't mean to grave-dig, but I've noticed this recently working from home... Music will be like 25-50% of the way through a track when it just randomly skips ahead to the next track. I can't find any regular pattern to it, and I've got pretty solid fiber internet with no other noticeable issues. Anyone got a brilliant fix for this? SO annoying.

I'm on 10.15.4, Mac mini 2018. Part of me wonders if the "next track" Fn key on my Logitech K750 is to blame... but it isn't stuck and seems to work as expected otherwise.

I have this happen periodically as well on both macOS and iOS, but mine doesn't play partial tracks. One song will, and there is a pause while it tries to play the next song. Nothing happens, so it skips to the next. This can happen for a few tracks in a row. I just assume it's an issue on Apple's side.
