The latest beta version of Apple Music for Android includes Chromecast support, allowing users to stream songs and playlists from the service over Wi-Fi to Chromecast-enabled devices like the Google Home.

As noted by Android Police via AppleInsider, the cast icon will automatically appear on the now playing screen and elsewhere in the app if there is a compatible Chromecast-enabled speaker or TV connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Android smartphone. Playback can still be controlled on the phone.

The latest beta of Apple Music for Android also provides access to over 100,000 broadcast radio stations from sources like TuneIn and iHeartRadio. And last month, in an earlier beta, the app gained a dark mode.

Android users can sign up for the beta via Google Play.

Let me use it with Google home and google home mini (i mean directly), and we are set :D

Once upon a time I’d have told you hell would freeze over first but considering it can be done with Amazon Echo devices, I’d wager this isn’t too far off.

In fact, didn’t Apple Music pop up as default music option in the Google Home app ‘accidentally’ ;) for a day last year?

As a mixed ecosystem household (Apple and Google), adding this function would finally get me to use Apple Music as our family’s music streaming service.

I tried Google play music, but prefere Apple music, but I am missing the Home integration, as you said it looked like it was going to happen, but a year ago...

I’m a longtime Play Music subscriber but it’s almost solely due to the free YouTube premium that’s included. Considering Google is ultimately going to kill off GPM in favor of YouTube Music (terrible service, IMO), these changes to Apple Music would be quite welcome.

Apple Music also should add direct support for services like Bluesound's BluOS. It's infuriating to have easy access in that app to every service but Apple Music.

Nice, now can we get the rest of the Apple iTunes store on Android or do we have to do a class action suit to get that done?

I'd like to see the rest of the iTunes store on Android. In general, I'd like to see Apple services be platform agnostic.

A class action law suit though? I'd put down money that a judge wouldn't even take the case, they would throw it out.

There's a better argument to be made for making the iOS open to apps outside the App Store but even that is a stretch.

Lawsuits are for when your rights have been damaged, not simply when you feel entitled to something.

Well if you bought movies from iTunes and could not access them because you do not have an iOS device anymore.....

App I can understand not being aple to use them...duh different OS, but movies? what's the reason behind me not being able to view purchased content?

I agree. I use Apple for pretty much everything except my home speakers (too invested with Google Home). Since Apple Music does not support Chromecast, I'm forced to subscribe to Google Play Music and probably eventually YouTube Music. I'm just waiting for HomePod to fail so Apple is forced to support other casting services.

I have home minis that I unplugged yesterday because I can’t have them play to my Sonos speakers with voice like I can with Siri..and as someone else mention Apple Music currently can’t be set as default for google assistant so it’s kinda a broken way to do things. I rather not have the service at all if both companies can’t agree to not limit features. Customers should just have to pick the better service

It's great to see Apple Music expanding!

I'd love to see a web player though! It would be great if there was music.apple.com or something similar where I could stream from a computer at work.

Yeap. Though it seems to always be too little too late with Apple Services since 2011. iCloud, Apple Music, now News, Apple TV+ etc.
There is no breakthrough innovation, only same old boring recipe.
Apple Music is acceptable, though it could be way better.
Make an Android killer App and give something for free i.e. Beats Radio like it used to be in the start.
Add features that people care about, i.e. browser experience, sharing playlists with non subscribers, dj-enabled streaming etc.

Anyone else agree the “create a radio station feature” is straight up trash on Apple Music? It consistently puts things from different genres and time periods together, and also includes some real unknown head scratching songs.

Pandora, on the other hand, just nails radio stations.

This is loooooooooong overdue. I'm glad to see Apple providing more support for other devices. It made no sense for Apple Music to be on Android and yet lack Chromecast support.
