I guess it's good for Android users. Now, what about adding Chromecast support to the iPhone?

Yes, the decision casts doubt on my previous belief that Apple cared more about the user experience than selling their own hardware. But this move clearly indicates that they are trying to keep their iPhone users buying AppleTV instead of Chromecast. Sad, shameful. Support should be universal.

Does Android have gapless playback yet? If Apple can add gapless playback support to Android and develop a web experience with gapless playback then I'll have no reason to even look at competitors.

I totally forgot about gapless playback. That was important to me years ago when I'd spend hours browsing and downloading iTunes Music. Things have changed dramatically since the switch to streaming music.

Actually there are some third party apps for iOS and iPadOS that support Chromecast, such as nPlayer, but native support would be best.
