i guess this is gear more towards alexa/google devices. instead of paying $10 for using Apple Music u can pay $5 to use it on those devices. Maybe also for the rumored PS5 app.

edit: just read it was for apple only devices? um chile anyways.

Seems like I’m one of the few that actually like this idea. I mean… I would much rather Apple allow me to make Spotify my default player on my HomePod but this plan does certainly solve that issue

Wow, much unleash! I guess I’ll stick to my $70/year subscription to SiriusXM then.

As an owner of like 12 GH products-- this DOES intrigue me. However--those devices don't technically run SIRI. Curious if it works with this plan.

It's actually kind of genius on Apple's part. Get a new batch of customers paying $5 for Apple music (away from competitors, and maybe someday they will upgrade to $10), and get that many more voices to use to keep training Siri.

This is just an option for people that want to use it exclusively with their HomePods, but has no need to it on their phone or any other devices.

For everyone else, you can continue using your existing plan. That's all.

It's 1/2 the price for just siri controlled music. If you want UI pay the 9.99.

Apple is doing it for folks in their smart speaker ecosystem and also it's a good way to force more data for siri (which isn't adopted well) so they can try and improve it.

You folks CRY siri sucks but a cheaper option that FORCES adoption (aka, user data to improve it) you balk at.

And this is from someone who has been VERY critical of apple as of late.

Looks like it's five dollars cheaper per month, than Apple Music plus, and only allows you to use Siri for control as well as not allowing you to enjoy lossless or spatial audio.

the Apple website mentions you can use Apple Music Voice Plan on all Apple devices...Air Pods, iPhones, Home Pods, TV "Once subscribed to the Apple Music Voice Plan, users can request music be played across all of their Siri-enabled devices, including HomePod mini, AirPods, iPhone, or any other Apple device, and when using CarPlay."

..... and that you can adjust things in app
"Apple Music Voice Plan subscribers will get a customized in-app experience with suggestions based on the listener’s music preferences and a queue of recently played music through Siri. Within the app there will also be a dedicated section called “Just Ask Siri” where subscribers can learn tips to optimize Siri for Apple Music."

I'm not sure why people aren't "getting it". If that's the case, it's not the product for you...(and you're a bit dim)...It's clearly aimed at people who don't see the value in the streaming service but, for one reason or another, have a homepod or connected speakers.

Not sure I understand the hate or confusion about this? It's a way to get more people to Apple Music and obviously isn't for you if you're fine with the other plans. Also they didn't say VOICE ONLY so I'm pretty sure you can still use the app you just can't use it with non apple devices so it may be a great deal for some and may push some people away from pirating/using other free services with ads.

You know, this isn't terrible. Probably at least 80% of my use of Apple Music by interaction count (not time listening) is via voice interaction. Sometimes I just want to hear Tom Macdonald or whatever without opening Music and typing something in. I don't build playlists; at the most, I use whatever playlists already exist and are shared. I think that Apple figured this out and is offering a tier to serve those people.
