Looks like this is like the “On Repeat” playlist that Spotify has. I checked it out this morning and the tracks were all on point (all tracks that I have favorited). Definitely a welcome addition.

An all-new "Heavy Rotation Mix" playlist today rolled out on Apple Music, providing a convenient way for users to see and listen to a personalized collection of songs that they listen to most.

The Heavy Rotation Mix features 25 songs and joins the Favorites Mix, Get Up! Mix, Chill Mix, New Music Mix, and Friends Mix. Unlike the pre-existing personalized playlists which are all updated on a weekly basis, Heavy Rotation is updated daily, allowing it to evolve as your listening habits change.

Apple Music users can listen to their own Heavy Rotation Mix and add it to their library by navigating to Listen Now, where it appears under Top Picks.

The Heavy Rotation Mix is the latest feature to join Apple Music after a series of small upgrades in recent months. Earlier in February, Apple launched a monthly Apple Music Replay experience, as well as new "Love" and "Heartbreak" personalized radio stations. Apple Music also seems to be testing a service to import a music library from other streaming services.

It looks like maybe they dropped the Friends playlist though? That was the one I used the least so not a huge loss.

I was gonna come in here and criticize the ****** job Apple has done with Music features, but on seeing this Heavy Rotato list....it actually includes non-Music tracks I've uploaded. That's totally unexpected and actually appreciated.

Great, mine has all the music my daughter listens to. We have the family plan. She logs in with her own account. How do I separate her stuff from mine?

I just checked my Heavy Rotation playlist. It shows "Speed of Sound" by Pearl Jam, which I have never listened to. I appears they somehow mixed that up with "Speed of Sound" by Coldplay, which I do listen to quite a lot.

Bravo Apple. Bravo.

Wow... folks at Apple Music clearly have great taste ;)

This lands somewhere between "meh" and "nice", but what I'd really love to see is an AI that can make me a really custom playlist... eg "make me a playlist featuring 90s hits but add some songs from Stick Figure to it"

Making custom playlists yourself is slow and arduous

Amazon music is a better product than Apple music

You heard it here first folks.
100% agree. To be clear, I'm referring to the Amazon Music Unlimited subscription, not the free or Prime tiers.

Apple Music has a tiny 'skip' in the first few seconds of almost every track when its lossless and on wifi. Issue disappears if not lossless or the track is dowloaded. Deal breaker for me right there.

The only drawback to Amazon Music is they took away most of the videos - all that's left are Amazon Originals. I miss the Ocello/Stingray concerts that used to be included with the Unlimited subscription, those were great!

Spotify 2016. I guess better late than never?
Right. My thoughts exactly. It baffles me the glacial pace that Apple moves at with their services. Apple is NOT a services company, they are a hardware company, and it shows.

that buffering comes down to your internet connection

Why would Apple Music encourage people to spend *more* time listening to *fewer* songs, instead of trying to connect them with new songs within their preferred genres?

Check your network setup. Easy to pass the blame onto Apple, but your local network is a BIG factor is just how quickly content arrives.

Does this happen equally on LTE/5G? Does it happen on other internet connections? Tried a neighbour?

The "Recommended for you" of both Apple Music and Spotify is not working for me. The reason is that I have playlists based on games I play.
Eg, I listen to 30-40's music when I play WWII boardgames, Western music when I play an RPG campaign set in the Western era (US 1860-80's), and ambient music when I play Fantasy RPG.

The rest of the time I listen and mix "normal" music like pop, rock, country, chill etc (and I HATE Hip Hop and Rap).

You can imagine what happens when the music services start to mix my music things together… "No Siri, I don't want to listen to a banjo song, or 45 minutes of scary landscape sounds when I play music in the background for my guests." 😂😖
I listen to playlists and you can exclude them from your taste profile. So I love white noise at night, but I don’t want to listen to that in my DJ or daily playlists so I exclude it.

Yes, no, and yes. Even spoke to Apple and the tech confirmed the issue and said they are working on a fix.

Not trying to pass the blame to Apple. This is easily recreatable on Apple Music with any connection, same song in same spot has the same skip, regardless if on WiFi or 5G.

Amazon Music on any connection doesn't have that tiny 'skip'.

To be fair, I don’t think the same teams were working on both products.

That said, I’d rather have a playlist of favorites I haven’t listened to in a few months. My personal station seems to play the same rotation of songs over and over again.
Yeah tongue was in my cheek. Just funny that quite a minor feature launched the day after a major project was cancelled. Usually big companies try and cover up things like that with big product announcements etc. to bury the story.

I.e. announcing the end of Apple car on the day that Apple launches new iPad and the new MBA would've been a good move as it would've been:

'Ohhh new iPads - and the IPP has an OLED screen! But wow, it's expensive! And oh yeah, no Apple Car. Whatever'.

I remember the old days of spending hours on iTunes carefully crafting perfect playlists to put on my iPod. We lose something by surrendering to algorithms to do all the curation for us.

The My Station already plays heavy rotation, the same 8 songs over and over from 2010. I want something that helps me discover new music that’s similar to what I like, with a sprinkle of the songs I’m into.
Try "discovery station" playlist tho, or the "infinity mode" when it continues to play with the songs similar to the one you are listening (don't know how it is called properly)

Yes, that's definitely true. On the other hand, I have discovered some of my favourite songs by and bands because of Spotify's excellent music discovery.

It's the one thing I miss dearly to this day.

I have no idea where Apple got its songs for my "Heavy Rotation" playlist.

I'd say I haven't heard of 2/3s of the songs on the list, & upon listening to them I have to give the thumbs down to more than 1/2 of them. Like a lot of songs I really don't enjoy.

This is really weird, because Apple Music is my primary music app when I'm not streaming some college radio station. They should know what I listen to & like. Some of their other custom playlists are pretty good.

This playlist not only misses the mark, it's not even in the same direction as the target.
