    Hey guys

I swapped from spotify to apple music, ive been using it fine for a week, however i just got a message that my data is gone.

Ive been adding music to my music and then clicking make available offline.

However there isnt a clear indicator of whats saved offline (like the green tick on spotify) so if i forget and smash my data, how can i have avoided that?

Its not a very helpful interface or system and ill have to go back to spotify if theres no way to more easily see whats stored locally for when im out and about.

I'm interested in offline storage too. Data caps render streaming services a mostly wifi only option for me. And I only listen to music while I'm out.

I've been using Apple Music since day one. I've gone through 14gb's of data with 2 weeks left on my billing cycle thinking that most of the data was used on Apple Music. However, checking cellular data, it only shows 1.9gb's used. For as much as I used Apple Music, that isn't bad.... since I leave wifi off. I only stream Apple Music... so I don't use the offline feature.

At the top of the list in My Music (the menu that lets you select sort view type) at the bottom there is a show offline only option. Enable that and you will only see offline music and won't use up data by mistake.

In all honesty, there didn't use to be as many generous UK data plans even a couple of years ago when I got my contract, so I sympathise with OP. I get 2gb now and it's hell. Will be getting at least 10gb when I upgrade to the 6s series in September.

As well as the probably easier and clearer way posted by lagwagon, you can also see which individual songs are available offline, as indicated by the phone icon.

I got a warning from ATT about reaching 75% of my quota, the only reasonable explanation is that I used apple music while commuting. I've since turned off the cellular settings, this greatly reduces my enjoyment of apple music and it makes it harder for me to justify paying for it, i.e., why pay for something that I'll not be able to use as much as I expected.

Get playlists and download while on wifi.
Most didnt like it when Apple controlled your carrier choice. This is the downside.

Yes the icon is also lets you know. But there are layers to those icons and may not always show.

An example is if you tap "make available for offline" on an album. That icon then appears on the album art instead and not on the songs. The layer is, if you listen to the album and only like a few songs, you can then make those individual songs offline (giving the songs the icon) and tap the album ". . ." and remove the rest with one button while keeping what you liked. The same goes for playlists too.

But yes the "show music available offline" toggle is the sure fire way of knowing regardless of icon or not.

I am on 3 and I got my unlimited data package in September 2013 when the iPhone 5s came out and I know for a fact they did it at least a year before then.

This is true, I just wasn't ready to move from EE then, who at the time offered the best 4G coverage. Seriously considering it this time though. I travel quite a lot so still being able to use my phone abroad would be a godsend.

I moved to 3 back in the middle of 2013 i think it was to get the unlimited data in the main and i dread to think how much i get through! Mainly due to the first Ashes test and the Tour De France starting last week i've used 17Gb in the last few weeks of which 12.9Gb is Sky Go mostly from last week having those two things on at work for myself and colleagues to watch!

Off to France at the end of this week and like last year will be able to take full advantage of the fact i can use it like i'm still in the UK!!

That's what has me red with envy, the fact you can still have all that data even while abroad!!

I switched to Three and got a Samsung Galaxy S3 in July 2012 and I had unlimited data since then. I'm still with them now. But planning on switching to EE in March '06 due to their superior coverage in my area, recently moved and can hardly text indoors, calls are a no-no.

Looks like your wireless carrier is limiting you. May want to start looking into other options that won't hold you back.
