Longtime lurker and VR user here–finally wanted to post since im really excited about Apple releasing their XR headset.

I think it would be really cool if Apple prioritized the entertainment vertical and hosted concerts in XR. Right now the VR industry is focused on gaming, which I think has been holding VR back from mainstream adoption. I think music and entertainment would be a great way to bring in users who aren't interested in hardcore gaming, and Apple is really well-positioned to do this.

Meta currently hosts VR concerts in Horizon Worlds, but they are pretty low quality. There now seems to be a perfect opportunity for Apple to leverage their resources with Apple Music to bring in artists and host their own XR concerts, which would be way better than Meta’s. Exclusive Apple XR music content would be a great way to convert users to Apple Music, and there's probably ways to integrate the content across their other platforms (AR content that can be used with iphone LiDAR etc.).

I would imagine they need to bring in big name artists to help promote the launch of their platform, I think it would be awesome if we could see a Coldplay XR concert.

Which artists would you all want to see??

Yoyo Tommy VR - just like you I'm a lurker on MacRumors but finally made an account with the upcoming Apple VR headset!

VR Concerts is definitely going to be one of the killer apps on there. One big name I hope to see if
Paul McCartney.

Absolutely agree. I see it as the most compelling use case for VR. The video posted of Joshua Bell is remarkable — think of all of the classical music concerts that Apple could produce in VR…

Classical symphonies would be really cool; it will be a niche market though.

Personally, some Rock bands like Foo Fighters or Metallica would be interesting so I can watch their instrument play up close.

It's not a coincidence they just released the Classical apps? Nothing beats real experience but this is as close as we can get without travelling hassle and spending lots of money.

One YouTuber that used the device at WWDC said he watched an Alicia Keys concert in 3D filmed with Apple's proprietary 180 degree 3D capture setup. Looks like Apple have already been capturing some Apple Music video content ready for Vision Pro's launch.

Yes concerts, sports games, any live events—bring it on!

(Also “non-events”—livestream of pleasant/interesting environments, whether nature or bustling cities, although the camera probably shouldn’t be close enough to people to recognize them due to privacy.
Or pre-recorded 360 experiences from content creators.
I think a lot or all of this stuff already exists with other headsets, but with Apple entering the game, I think we will get more and better.)

I could definitely see Apple putting on concerts for VP!

Oh for sure. And if the Alicia Keys experience is any indication, Apple is clearly interested in the field. Not to mention Apple's intimate history with the music industry.

Apparently there are rumors that people have been spotting 3D cameras at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour (which if you're not following is projected to be one of the highest grossing tours in history--she's been selling out entire stadiums for every single show) that could be for Apple content but it's all pure speculation.

This could easily bring more attention to tv+ for example which let's be honest isn't remotely on the same level as Netflix, Disney+, or even Prime Video when it comes to household knowledge (I have friends who literally have a tv+ subscription under Apple One but never knew it existed and still probably forget about).

Which is a shame because the content is amazing (Severance anyone?).

Yeah I watched a review where one guy was just blown away. “She was singing to me. It was that intimate of a feeing.” Called it the beginning of a new era in movies and storytelling.

I would love to see one of U2's upcoming Achtung Baby residency concerts at the Las Vegas Sphere filmed in Apple's 180 3D format for Vision Pro. The Sphere and the 180 degree 3D XR video format would be a perfect match with the venue's 160,000 ft 16Kx16K LED screen and immersive sound system. U2 and Apple do have a history together, so maybe it'll happen? I am going to a couple of the U2 Sphere shows in October. Can't wait to have my mind blown!
