Hi,

Just venting some of my frustration with Apple Music.

I have a fairly large music library, of nearly 6000 albums. With iTunes this was no problem, no issues. Everything worked great.

In Apple Music the search function is slow and laggy (I use exclusively SSDs).

When transferring my own files to Apple Music on my iPhone 17 Pro:

Various files are not showing on my phone in Music, although they are on my phone. If I remove the file, and then add it to Music again - then transfer it to my iPhone - then it will show.

If I change the name or tag info on a file on my computer, the same audio file can't be removed on my iPhone - only a full wipe/re-sync will work.

Limited choices of sound quality when transcoding+copying file to iPhone. The highest quality is AAC@256. Why can't we also have AAC@320? How much does it cost Apple to add a couple of extra AAC quality transcode options? Come on...

An album of tracks sounded distorted after transcoding+copying it over to my iPhone

Some tracks will say "This track won't play in this region" or something like that. Again, I have to go to a similar process as mentioned above.

If I delete an album inside Music on my iPhone, the files are only removed inside the app. They are still on the iPhone, taking up space.

And so on....and so on....and so on.

Why couldn't we have kept iTunes? Even though it had more functions, it was quicker, snappier, much better for searches, and clearly better coded.

Get a grip, Apple!

Thanks for mentioning iMazing. I'll try to look into alternate 3rd party software, as Apple Music clearly isn't cutting it.

iTunes worked great, too bad it was abandoned by Apple.

I actually use Apple Music for streaming but I share the frustration from switching from iTunes. The playlists that I had in iTunes carried over into Music. Though I cannot play them because I did not move any of the music over, they still appear as my first 10 playlists or so when I go to playlist tab. Not really obvious how to make them go away either. They should have never tried to combine the two functions.

where are all these better music apps for people that buy cd's?

the only iMazing app I can find is for transferring files with a subscription of $90 per year?

That's for 20 devices. I bought for 3 devices for $39.99. One device is $29.99. Besides the music access, one of the big values to me is the ability to assign backup locations on my Windows box other than my C drive.
