Wouldn‘t it have to turn off the vocal of the song, too? That’s not mentioned in the article. Otherwise it‘s not really much of a karaoke feature if I just sing on top of Mariah‘s voice.

As seen on apples website, you can adjust the Singer’s volume. Maybe it is AI based, thus the latest hardware is needed.

I understand the feature supports multiple singers. I'm curious what will be used as microphones. Are we using our iPhones, which in turn on being streamed to AppleTV? Historically, using bluetooth mics doesn't work because of the latency. Singing karaoke with latency between the song and the vocals is not a good experience. Curious how this is all going to work....

I think the hardware requirement might stem from removing actual vocals in real time for a given song as well as bringing in all the vocals from multiple devices.

Does anyone know if Apple Music Sing will have 3rd party Mic support?

Would be nice if you could use an iPhone as a Mic for AppleTV.

No iPad Air? the 4th gen has an a14, and the current model has an M1. No reason they don't have the processing power to do it.

EDIT: Huh, looks like post was updated to reflect the Airs.

Glad that I went for that Gen3 iPad Pro 11" instead of an iPad Air, contrary to all the reviews that said:

"if you're NOT a prah', the Pro isn't worth it - go for the cheaper Air and the only thing you will miss really is the Face ID"

Now, I can sing the hell out of my Face ID-120Hz-Prah'.

Man I have the worst voice but I love doing Karaoke, family/friends used to be big into Singstar on the Playstation back in the day, can't wait to try this one out. Thanks Apple, something I didn't ask for but didn't know I wanted so bad!

120Hz ProMotion is everything. Pro is worth it for that alone.

They'll support the 9th Generation iPad with an A13, the 10th generation iPad with an A14, the sixth generation iPad mini with an A15, the 3rd and 4th generation 11-inch iPad Pros with M1 and M2, and and the 5th and 6th generation 12.9-inch iPad Pros with M1 and M2.

But no 4th generation iPad Air with A14 and no fifth generation iPad Air with M1? I can't fathom what the reasons for this are as it makes no real sense.

It works with any 4K Apple TV, which means the original, released back in September 12, 2017. The fact they're supporting a 5 year old device is pretty good.

Not surprising but hilarious that some are crying that they're not supporting the Apple TV HD, released in 2015. At some point, your really old technology isn't gonna support the very latest features.
You're wrong, only the 2022 Apple TV is supported.
