Apple Music keeps stopping…

Quick question… on my iPhone 17 Pro Max when I’m playing music via Apple Music. If I unlock my phone then either pull down the notification screen or press the button to lock the phone, the music stops playing.

It doesn’t happen all the time. But it definitely happens enough to be noticeable.

Just wondering if anyone else experienced this or have an idea on how to fix it.

Similar/different issue: my iPP 17 is set to lock after five minutes. If the Music app is playing at the time, it stops playing. I assume this is an iOS 26 bug, but that's just a guess.

Do you have Always on Display enabled, or does your screen go completely dark when the phone locks?

I recently noticed Apple Music having trouble playing when Sleep Focus disabled AoD. Up until that point no issues, but as soon as the display went dark playback would stop / resume for variable amounts of time on its own.

I have AOD enabled.

The issue is really weird. Like I’ll be playing music, get a notification. I open the notification screen, then either when I close the notification screen OR press the lock button, the music stops working.
 
I’ve been experiencing this a lot the last week to two weeks. Difference being that for me, it’s with Spotify and I’m running 18.7. It’s random and unlike my usual cases where an app I’m in like Facebook kills the connection.
 
This is happening to me across all devices. Phone 17, HomePods, iPad, etc. My son also said it is happening on it’s headphones. Homekit frequently loses contact with our lights, etc. too. Very frustrating.

Opening the FB app with music playing is fine but as soon as I “close” it music stops. This seems to happen everytime.
