Apple and Samsung have partnered to launch an Apple Music app for Samsung smart TVs, according to The Verge. The app, which is rolling out today, will be supported on 2018 and later TVs.

This is the first time Apple Music has expanded directly to smart TVs, and the app looks similar to the Apple TV version of Apple Music.

Many of Samsung's recent smart TVs also support the Apple TV app, which offers access to Apple TV+, Apple TV channels, and movie and TV show rentals and purchases.

Just downloaded it! Works great! Easy sign in aswell using a QR code and my iPhone! Using the Samsung Frame tv!

They should make TV and Music apps for Sony Playstation and Xbox One.

I know a lot of people use these devices for streaming music (even while gaming) and video content. All major content providers have apps on those platforms.

Except Google Play Music. Both Google and Apple need to get together with Sony and Microsoft and sort this out.

My concerns here are purely about privacy. This seems to make it very easy for these “smart” TV’s to be collecting more data on us?

Thoughts?

Glad I bought a Samsung Q series TV last Fall. I was already happy with the set and now this.

it would be nice if the Apple TV app allowed us to see the Extras in movies.

Great, now fix the Android app and introduce a Windows version, please.

Also, release a TV+ app on Android and Windows. This is literally what's keeping the service from being noticed. People online, especially those interested in their shows, immediately dismiss the service thinking they need an Apple device just to access them.

They need to hire competent app developers for Android, Windows and the Web. Every software made by Apple that's developed on non-Apple platforms performs like ass.

More and more I regret buying my 2017 Samsung TV. It's such a shame Apple aren't covering more Samsung TVs with their services. Disney plus at least is available on Samsung TVs dating back to 2016

Bought a 55" Q Series TV from Samsung last year and 7 months later, it developed a backlight blooming problem in the lower left that Samsung refused to fix. It was noticeable on any letterboxed content (which is most films these days). They told me that it was within tolerances because they didn't want to replace the panel. That 5 year warranty they put on the box is a scam. I wound up donating the TV (since the image was that visibly annoying).

Bought an LG OLED after that and never looked back. I will never buy a big screen Samsung TV again after that fiasco.

But, I do agree that Apple should let us use the extras for the content. I can't get access to things like the "Agent Carter" one shot on Iron Man 3 from the App TV right now.

never say never, because of 1 bad experience ...What if your lg goes the same route?

If I bought a smart TV, I'd connect it to the internet once to update the firmware, and then completely disconnect it.

Sadly this is the world we live in. It would be great to have a smart-less TV that only excelled in real picture quality.

A $900 bad experience. Sorry, that's a little too much to forgive especially since Samsung markets the Q series with a 5 year warranty to get you to buy the TV with no intention of respecting it. We'll see how LG treats me if something happens to the set. I already know how Samsung will treat me.

In retrospect, it's my fault. I should have just bought the LG OLED I wanted for the $300 price difference. But, I thought I was doing good and saving some money to boot. That'll teach me.

It’s really not a big deal if your tv is not supported. Most smart TVs are slow and clunky.

just get a roku and your set with all the apps you need.

They need to get Apple Music on consoles. I have a feeling Sony has an exclusive contract with Spotify, but it seems ridiculous at this point to not have all the streaming services on that box.

Google Play Music is becoming Youtube Music. Pretty sure they will integrate this into the YouTube app soon on both platforms

Same here but on a Q90R. A few things are missing, or I can't figure out how, but finally!

So glad my TV is guaranteed for 10 years against burn-in because the static album artwork with "Now playing" is asking for trouble on an OLED.

Except my Samsung TV (I think a 2017 model) doesn't open programs anymore. I launch them, error try again. Resetting the TV, factory defaults....nothing works. Reinstall apps, can't...error. Oh well. It guess it's a dumb TV.
