Except my Samsung TV (I think a 2017 model) doesn't open programs anymore. I launch them, error try again. Resetting the TV, factory defaults....nothing works. Reinstall apps, can't...error. Oh well. It guess it's a dumb TV.
I've had weird issues here and there with my samsung "smart" tvs too (2014 and 2019)... they are cheaply programmed and there's always bugs in the software

Neat. I just picked up good deal on a 65" Samsung panel. Assuming the update is available within the device's settings somewhere. Something to do!

The apps not working just randomly stopped working one day. My next TV will be a TCL. They also have QLED screens.

It’s really not a big deal if your tv is not supported. Most smart TVs are slow and clunky.

just get a roku and your set with all the apps you need.

Except that this app isn't available on Roku...

I REALLY hope Apple keeps on this track of releasing apps for competing platforms. I have a Roku and love it. Tried AppleTV, returned it after a week. Hated the interface, hated the remote. Only thing missing for me right now is Apple Music.

I don't see the benefit in having a music app on my tv?

If i like to hear music, i switch off the big screen and hear music. Having the playlist shown on 65" is stupid.

My concerns here are purely about privacy. This seems to make it very easy for these “smart” TV’s to be collecting more data on us?

Thoughts?

I wouldn’t worry about it too much from just Apple Music. The TV will know you are using Apple Music, but that should be about it. Of course, this isn’t ruling out the data the TV could be collecting though its own browser/App Store etc.

I don't have a stereo or Bluetooth speaker in every room of my house. In the den, I have a nice stereo with multiple ways to play Apple Music. In the bedroom, I have an Amazon Echo, which can play Apple Music. In the living room... here's the problem. I have a TV with a Roku stick and a sound bar. Having Apple Music on that Roku stick would be awesome.

Great. So instead of updating the Apple TV, they’re just going to make it irrelevant...
Haha, yep... Was thinking of getting a new Apple TV (or the one rumored to be released this year), but my reasons for getting one are shrinking since my Samsung TV can now handle AirPlay 2, AppleTV+, and Apple Music. I don't think Apple will be making the Apple TV device irrelevant any time soon though.

My mistake I mixed up Apple Music with the Apple TV app on roku.

Both Apple TV and Apple Music apps on my new Samsung TV have stopped working entirely. They worked fine for a day then became unresponsive.

The apps bring up a Loading screen and then crash back to Home. After that they do nothing at all when you click on them.

Have rebooted TV, reset Smart Hub and restored TV to factory settings. No change.

Found a few similar issues on the Apple Support communities from the past few days.
Something funny is going on…
