Jony Ive is gone, so we are seeing these unApple things starting to surface. :(
Like I also never expected to see that huge ass chin without a logo on the new iMac, the rumored return of more ports on MacBooks and other backtracking stuff.
I like the lack of logo to be honest. Feels self confident.

I'm still not convinced about the rumours of introducing more ports on the new MacBook Pro. Again, so un-Apple, and backwards! Plus if they were going to introduce more ports why wouldn't they do so on the iMac where space is absolutely not a concern?

So are we expecting an easy one click to pay an extra 20p or something per song to upgrade your previous purchases?

Jesus, this brings back forgotten memories to ancient 128->256 switching times ... Hope we got over this and just get the lossless upgrade like we did with 4K movies. (Although I'm a solely Apple Music listener today so it won't affect me anyway.)

I’m probably totally off base here but what if they introduce losses audio by using the Airpod Max’s ability to connect to multiple devices at once? Instead using this to connect multiple times to the same device allowing for more data to be transferred?
That makes no sense. When AirPods connect to multiple devices they don’t receive audio from all those devices simultaneously. They don’t have bandwidth for that.

I'm intrigued by the possible Dolby Atmos connection. But of course, every time the industry has tried to sell consumers various forms of surround sound, the response has ranged from unaware to lukewarm, except for among a few enthusiasts. With so much headphone listening, binaural and spatial sound could be a thing if its executed and packaged well, but I'm a bit sceptic. Just like with hi-res audio - a lot of people just don't care. Content is key here, naturally, and Apple has the industry connections necessary to drum up an impressive initial, sample catalogue, but in the longer run?

But If Apple does indeed push for Atmos empowered music listening, wouldn't it create an apparent need to simplify the process of producing that kind of content in Apple's own Logic Pro software? Today Atmos mixing is very much centered around Pro Tools plus add-ons. Mixing music for home entertainment isn't as big an undertaking as mixing for theatrical releases (which requires more hardware, Dolby on-site calibration and approval), but still.

I'm honestly pretty stoked for this, the compressed stuff has gotten much better but was still a step down from CD quality. Many attempts at lossless streaming have come and gone but I feel like Apple has the ability to make it stick.

Apple Music Lossless going to support HomePod?

Yes, HomePod will be able to stream music in Dolby Atmos.

I wonder how Apple's offering will compare to "Hi-res audio" which has been around for ages: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/hi-res-audio

The key difference there, is Sony have a full suite of products designed to go with it.
Is that page a joke?
