Is there anything you do like about Apple? You don't like iTunes Match. You don't like Apple Maps. You apparently won't like Apple Music. So what do you like about Apple that brings you to these almost illustrious forums?

iTunes Match and Apple maps!?!?!. Lots of hardcore apple fans do not like these. Hardware, OS and awesome support is what most people like about apple.

The appeal of $9.99 is the number of digits. The human brain is much better at processing how many digits something is then what the value of those digits are. The brain sees the difference between $10.00 and $9.99 as huge compared to the difference between $9.99 and $5.99, for example, despite the price going up by only 1 cent and $4, respectively.

So Apple goes with 9.99 because it's about the same as 5.99 according to the human brain (so just as many people will sign up at either price), while resulting in 60% extra revenue.

My brain is deceived into seeing $10 v $5 . almost 1/2 price ;)

I'm not interested in Apple Music. Not after I subscribed to iTunes Match. I cancelled it after 1 day. That's how terrible it was.

Well, that said you could easily also throw away your iPhone or iMac. They both have absoletely nothing in common with Apple Music - just like iTunes Match which is actually a cloud storage :)

I was asking the commenter based on the tone of the comment in conjunction with his/her signature. It came across as a trolling comment and I was offering an opportunity for him/her to respond to a positive question in a positive way.

I know many people don't like either iTunes Match (I have no problems with it) or Apple Maps (for me it works about as well but sometimes routes less efficiently than Google Maps).

This price is going to sound like music to a lot of ears in India. Also, I do have a feeling that the general concept of music streaming may mean that Apple may finally make all of its music available in all the countries...?

Some of the best music in the World comes from the UK right now, and the industry knows it. I bet the rights were therefore a tad more expensive there too.

That's cool. I just found it two be two services that ..... Are not apples best work :)

Just found it funny thats all. Though I get your point, said enough.

FYI , I Do not have access to apple match, and Apple maps had a extra airport or two I was not aware in my country at launch ;)

Depends on the deals apple can arrange. Just cause it's streaming does not means it's not constraint by copywrite, royalties and licensing across regions .

Our local one is still missing from Apple Maps if you've got one going spare. ;)

Alas the spare became a car park :(

Which one missing? It's only 2015, not like adding an airport to a maps service is important. Small one like Heathrow ?

Currently, the price in Canada is blank but I'm sure Apple is aware that Spotify and Rdio are $9.99 here regardless of the exchange rate. They need to price match it or deal with being undercut and losing customers to Spotify and Rdio.

Edit for the people who keep saying that they see the numbers for what they are:

Good job. Realize that:
#1: I'm clearly pointing out the difference in my post. There's something wrong with you if you can read English and don't see the difference when it's pointed out to you.
#2: You may not be normal. I don't fall for this kind of thing, either. Most people do. It's a normal marketing thing to pick $99.99 or $9.99 or $.99 as a price, just to avoid that extra digit.

My human brain thinks you are terrible in math and should not work as a Accountant.

My human brain thinks you are terrible in math and should not work as a Accountant.

Only represented my state as the 15th best at the American Regional Math League (which is the highest national competition - I wish they'd drop the word Regional from the title), but yes, I must be terrible at math if you say so.

I concur that I shouldn't work as an accountant - it's a dull job that has mostly been automated away already, and will probably be gone entirely within 10 years.

As I explained in my post, this is a marketing thing. Many people will see $5.99 and $9.99 as equally appealing (so generate about the same number of sales). Obviously one generates more revenue per sale than the other, so you go with the one that generates the most revenue per sale, since they have equal numbers of sales.

Apple Music will cost $9.99 per month in the United States after a three-month free trial period, but the service may have lower pricing elsewhere. A sign-up menu for Apple Music that started appearing yesterday for some developers and public beta testers on iOS 8.4 beta 4 reveals that the subscription-based streaming music service could cost as little as $2 to $3 per month in countries such as India and Russia.

Apple-Music-India-Russia-Pricing.jpg

A pair of separate reports by Technology Personalized and Russian-language tech blog TJournal share screenshots that suggest an Apple Music individual subscription could cost Rs 120 per month (~$2 USD) in India and 169 rubles per month (~$3 USD) in Russia. While the lower prices in these countries are not confirmed beyond these screenshots, they would be in line with similar pricing offered by rivals such as Rdio, Guvera and Gaana.

Apple Music was announced earlier this week as a streaming music service, live global radio station and social platform for artists to connect with fans. The subscription-based service will be available for a monthly fee after a three-month free trial for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and PC. Apple TV and Android versions of the service will be available in the fall. Apple Music launches June 30 on iOS 8.4 and iTunes.

I think Apple Music should be $1-$2 per month. I would use it as a way of finding music to buy. Otherwise, I'm happy using the 90 second preview that currently exists.

I'm not suprised about apples pricing. Apple is already facing antitrust allegations, and undercutting the music streaming business would just be adding fuel to the fire. £9.99 is a little much for me, I will stick to my free spotify account and purchasing occasional songs. Works out cheaper than streaming.

Wow this is greaaaat news... Might even decide to go for family sub if it's around 500 bucks per month...never thought they would do this.

And for those who say people in India listen to Bollywood stuff mainly are very mistaken. I know so many people who don't give a rat's a** for Bollywood. Plus iTunes India store has all the songs I listen to. Plus even if it doesn't, iTunes Match which comes free with Apple music will more than make up for it.

Awesome times ahead indeed.
