Amazon today expanded its Apple Music integration to the Amazon Fire TV, allowing Fire TV owners to ask Alexa to play songs from the Apple Music service.

According to CNBC, Apple Music on the Amazon Fire TV is available starting today.

The expansion comes three months after Apple allowed Apple Music to be streamed on Amazon Echo speakers using the Alexa voice assistant.

On the Fire TV, users can use commands like "Alexa, play music by Stevie Nicks," or "Alexa, play a Fleetwood Mac album" to play content directly from Apple Music.

It can be enabled by going to the Alexa app on an Android or iOS device and activating the Apple Music skill. Those who have already set up Apple Music with Alexa for Echo devices will not need to repeat the steps.

Right now, Apple Music is limited to the Fire TV and Amazon Echo speakers, though it may be expanded to third-party Alexa devices in the future.

Apple's effort to allow Apple Music to be streamed on third-party platforms is part of a deeper push to grow services revenue. Apple is also planning to expand iTunes to Samsung Smart TVs in the form of an iTunes app, and AirPlay 2 functionality is being built into recent smart TV sets from a number of manufacturers like Sony and LG.

Impatiently waiting for iTunes to show up on my Samsung smart tv this spring

This is clearly validation that Apple realizes when it comes to services, you're better off supporting as many devices/platforms as you can. Because, duh.

A little hypocritical that, in spite of this, Spotify still isn't allowed on their hardware -- the HomePod. Hmm.

And thats why big tech needs to be kicked by the well paid politicians, rather sooner than later!

I think Amazon and Apple can coexist peacefully. I have a HomePod for playing my Apple music. I have Echo Dots to control smart lighting (because not only are there more options, but more affordable options). I have Apple TV 4K so I can watch my iTunes library and Amazon Prime. I live comfortably in both their universes.
I’m the same. Have a stereo pair of HomePods in my living room but have echos in other rooms. Now I can listen to my Apple Music in other rooms.

And yet it’s STILL not available in the UK on any Amazon device.....
It will be soon finally. Don’t care about the fire TV. I have one (gift) but I use my Apple TV. However I only have HomePods in my living room. Not going to put them in every room at that price. I have echos in other rooms and there are only so many free trials of Spotify I can get.

Haha the good ol free trials.. I know someone who does that with Netflix...

Hopefully then it’ll be soon, I use Spotify but aren’t joined to them by a ball and chain as it were, it would just be nice for the UK to get some of those extra Echo features, love mine! I need to get a proper speaker to stream the music to though.
At least using the Fire TV would let you use those TV speakers.
