Apple today introduced a new feature that allows all artists to create Apple Music playlists based on their concert set lists. The playlists will appear on the artist's page in Apple Music, on their concert page in Shazam, and in Spotlight Search on iOS.

The feature is built into the Apple Music for Artists tool.

"Turn a set list from your latest show into a playlist on Apple Music for Artists on the web," said Apple, in a blog post explaining how artists can use the feature. "Share your Set List playlist with fans on Apple Music and social media to promote upcoming tour dates, let fans relive your concerts, and connect with listeners."

Apple Music has already featured more than 450 set lists for popular artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, and Post Malone since last year, and now all artists can create set list playlists to promote their past or upcoming concerts.

More details are available on the Apple Music for Artists website.

Only artists who play the same setlist every night will be allowed to spoil all element of surprise

I for one, would love to know a setlist ahead of time. That way I can know when I am able to take a bathroom break or do a beer run at a concert.

I have been wishing for Apple Music/Setlist.fm integration. So you can listen to a setlist playlist before seeing that artist live.

Apple Music is just a terrible app, Apple should really be embarrassed.
Most annoying is adding a song to my iPod and it shows up under song but not under artist

iPod, there’s a product I haven’t thought about for along time. I owned almost every model. Wonder if it’s because iPods stopped getting software updates with IOS 15

I wish Apple would bring them back, just make them sound better

Jam bands will never do this. They just post the actual live shows on Nugs, and a few will make it places like Apple Music.

This announcement reminds me of the early days of Apple Music One Mixes. They would play the One Mix live, but then post it as a playlist with the studio tracks. Eventually they realized that was the dumbest thing ever and fans want to listen to the actual live set.

Probably right. If I can’t see my favorite band live, I’ll go for the actual show footage somewhere. However, for those who are excited to see the show, at least bands/artists that will do it will get you pumped to see the upcoming show on a playlist.

So… bands that release greatest hits collections before a show don’t sell well? Pretty sure the last Genesis “The Last Domino…?” collection sold well on CD and vinyl while they did their farewell tour.

While it wouldn’t be my taste to listen to a playlist of studio tracks of a live set either. Again, I can see some music fans doing it too.

I’m not sure if this feature will be successful or not, but it doesn’t cost anyone anything but time to put together and have people listen.
