Music import pleaseeeeeeeeeee. Literally this is ONLY reason I still use iTunes on Windows and Music on Mac.

I don't understand how they can be so bad at this

They theoretically should care immensely, as this is one of their flagship subscription services

It seems like they just don't care

If they did care, the most valuable company in the world would woo some better developers out of indie life ... the old fashioned way...with lots of money. (which they have plenty of)

I like apple music but i have two gripes with it:

1. I find it to be unreliable at times, where if i have less than the best signal, it will simply not play songs. I didn't find this issue with spotify.
2. I really wish there was better integration with local libraries. Like, if you sync music from your computer to your phone, you can still play songs from apple music, but you can't save artists, save offline, make or see AM playlists, etc. I know AM isn't as "mature" as Spotify, and I hope better integration comes in the future, it just makes the service a bit of a pain to use.

I think they hope (and they are probably right) that their loyal Apple users will subscribe even if there are better options elsewhere, so why bother?

Whole Music UI is a mess. No back button, convoluted menus, unreliable saving, too many clicks... need an entire rethink.

Yep. The macOS app is in need of an overhaul as well. Navigating the store and switching between searching your library and the store is a huge pain and sometimes inconsistent, store can be laggy and slow, integration with local library is subpar...I thought this update would finally be the one that changes this, but alas, we're stagnating.

Meanwhile I'll continue to use Roon/Qobuz until Apple Music is improved.

“Music is core to our DNA”
- Tim Cook 5 minutes before forgetting what he said 5 minutes earlier.

Apple should be the leading music app, this laziness is incomprehensible to me. Rebuild this garbage from the ground up. First priority - the music actually plays every time you ask it to.

Still want to be able to start an album/playlist/etc. on one device and continue on another Apple device. This should have been implemented at the very beginning of Apple Music.
This. Blows my mind Apple, aka "the ecosystem" doesn't have this basic feature despite all the handoff features for other apps. One of the reasons I prefer Spotify.

They should add the ability that when you go to the music app of any device, it asks you if you want to "continue playing from [device name]".

Favourite artists for recommendations is welcomed, but the ability to block certain artists from being included in playlists would massively appreciated!

This feature works very well with Spotify, and is one of the main things keeping me there. Even if an artist I don't want to hear from appears on Discover Weekly or similar, it just skips that song without me knowing. The only sign that the artist was on a playlist is the greyed out song in the list.
But then Apple couldn’t force feed you its diet of Harry Styles and Drake.

How about adding a line of code to the "randomizing" algorithm like

IF nextrack LASTPLAY = <5 days THEN skip

Tired of hearing the same 12 tracks over and over again in a playlist of over 300

On Mac you could create a smart plays list where last play is > last 5 days and then have it on shuffle…?

And still no ability to create Smart Playlists that iTunes has had forever. It’s annoying that I have to fire up iTunes to create smart playlists which then work perfect on the iPhone.

I only keep around 500 or so of my decent sized collection downloaded at anyone time and I use the smart playlists to keep the downloaded tunes managed for me. If I play a song in my library that I’ve not listened to in ages it goes on the recently played list then is downloaded for me for future offline listens.

The downloaded music is an easy way of managing music when I’m in the car or on my headphones at work that way I can listen to the stuff I want to without all the filler without having to pick up the phone to change tracks all the time.

I'm hoping there will be a big Music announcement at some point soon with many more features. There was no mention of the MacOS app yesterday which everyone knows is utterly broken. Also there's supposedly a dedicated app for classical music coming, no mention of that either. Keeping my fingers crossed that something big happens in the autumn.

I'd switch to Spotify but I have loads of issues with that too. I really hate the way that all music has now been railroaded through these 2 services, I don't get on with either of them. They need to become far more capable and personalise-able. I've always been really passionate about music and I feel that is being stifled by app design choices that don't suit my needs, it's a ridiculous state of affairs really.

What I’d like is to switch between playlists and have it pick up where I left off for each list instead or resetting each time. That would ensure one play of each song per play through.
But if I do want a song to play more often, then it would also be cool to be able to either add the song multiple times (maybe you can, not sure) or add “weight” to a song so that it plays more often.

Awesome stuff. I recently switched back from Spotify because Spotify seemed like a mess to me. Apple Music is much easier to navigate and it suggests better songs for me.
