I forgot to update my new bank card to iCloud a few days ago, and my Apple Music subscription auto-cancelled. No biggie; I’ll just update the card and be good to go.

Well, after going back on to AM, ALL of my playlists disappeared. I had no idea how to get them back, so I called Apple support.

Their remedy: do an erase and reinstall on my iPhone, and then find a backup of an older version of an iCloud backup from a date prior to the subscription cancellation. Took hours and the associated hassles.

Seriously stupid. Why wouldn’t AM have a backup of my playlists? Why wouldn’t they just appear as normally upon resubscribing? I did their remedy on my iPad to test this, and decided this is so dumb I’m switching back to Amazon Unlimited. Cheaper anyway, and, guess what? Upon resubscribing, my playlists were still there with no added haggle. (Which is why I used another service to back up my playlists, just in case.)

Thanks for letting me vent. I get frustrated at the “it just works” mantra that isn’t always the case from Apple.
