Apple Music playback skips and jumps

I'm playing Apple Music in hi-res lossless mode on Ventura using a pair of wired headphones going into a FiiO KA3 DAC, and the music keeps skipping and jumping randomly. Does anyone else have this problem at all?

I've set the audio output to hi-res lossless quality, which my DAC supports natively, and I'm stuck on what I should do next.

Can someone offer some advice, please?
 
What happens if you remove the DAC from the process.
And plug the headphones DIRECTLY into the audio-out port on the Mac?
