Apple Music Search

My understanding is that Apple Music has around 30M tracks. When I do a genre or artist search, it only lists about 30 to 35 tracks. Why so few search results? I'm searching for something like "Blues" or an artist I know has more than 30 tracks. Is there some trick to getting a full listing or, if they are limited in how many can be displayed, a way to refresh the list to get additional results?

It's a little frustrating to be paying for access to a vast music library and be given such limited search results.

I was afraid that's what I might hear. The only thing I have found is that if you go into iTunes Store and do a similar search it comes up with an extensive list. I know that some of those won't be part of the Apple Music library but I think most should. So I guess I can scroll through that list and if I see something interesting, I can then go back to AM and put it in the search but that's a real PITA.

If I do a search, I don't want to be fed a handful Apples tracks of what it thinks I might be interested in. I want to browse over the entire list an pick out my own. Weak.

It is one of the more annoying things. Search for Disco Inferno (humor me) and tap "songs", which you would think would give you a comprehensive list of all available songs with that title. Lots of cheap rip-off versions are shown, but not the Tina Turner or Cyndi Lauper versions, both of which were minor club hits. However, a more specific search will show that they are indeed available through Apple Music to stream.

By "more specific" do you mean you have to put in the artists name along with song title?

I'm pretty sure this is a carry-over from Beats Music, because I had the same frustration when I was using that. I have a feeling as Apple makes Apple Music more Apple-y with the next few updates the little discrepancies like these will go away.

Maybe that's all the "Apple music catalog' has ? 30m tracks would also include those on iTunes Store.. which is not the case in all cases.

I have easily found music only available to stream only, and not on the itunes store.. same goes if you find music on the iTunes store, doesn't mean its available to stream either

I hope you are correct, because the current search result algorithm is very flawed.

There are other enhancements I'd like to see, like listing results by artist, year, etc. On the artist view, I wish there was more consistent use of year of release, as well as separation of Album/EPs and singles.

Apple Music could be amazing, but right now, it is a confused mess.

No. Much more music is available. It just isn't shown in a "regular" search. See my above example.

So I put the genre "Blues" in the search field. It returns about 35 tracks. Are you trying to tell me AM only has 35 blues tracks to stream?
