The Apple Music Sing feature that Apple announced earlier this week is now available in the iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, and tvOS 16.2 release candidates that were released this morning.

Designed as a karaoke feature, Apple Music Sing provides real-time lyrics that iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV users can sing along with.

Features include adjustable vocals for changing the volume of the original singer, real-time lyrics that move to the rhythm of the vocals, background vocal options, and a duet view for multi-singer tracks.

Apple has introduced more than 50 playlists that include songs, duets, choruses, and anthems ideal for use with Apple Music Sing.

Apple Music Sing can be used on the iPhone 11 and later, the third-generation 11-inch iPad Pro and later, the fifth-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro and later, the fourth-generation iPad Air and later, the ninth-generation iPad and later, the iPad mini and later, and the third-generation Apple TV 4K, which is the newest model.

Just been popping around my library and this is working on many (all?) songs with synced lyrics, even very obscure ones. This is fantastic.

Ok, this is actually pretty fun and cool. You can adjust the volume of the artist singing up and down depending on what you prefer.

It appears to be every song with synched lyrics. Many older songs don’t have synced lyrics, but some obscure ones like Jack Stauber is there. :) And Bill Wurtz.

Will update to the RC tonight to try it out.

Really hope this works while my iPhone is sleeping -- it would be fun to turn down the vocals to sing while driving 🤣

I'm on 16.2 and don't see that feature rolled out yet. Maybe it will get pushed server-side once 16.2 goes live to everyone next week.

Yup sure am. I see it on some songs, but most of them don't have them
OH I thought you meant it wasn’t on the artists I listed. I agree with you that does appear that only songs with synched lyrics have the possibility to have it, but not ALL songs with synched lyrics (as I found an old tune “I Like to Sing-a” that doesn’t have it). It’s more synched lyric songs than I would have thought upon release, but certainly fewer than “all”.
An example of one with no karaoke.
Checked again and now it’s there.

EDIT:
So, it seems like it may take a little while to determine if it can or can’t do a particular song? Had another situation where a song I KNOW had karaoke initially didn’t have it when I got back, but after waiting a bit, it appeared.

This will be really popular with some users. Apple Music has been doing a great job lately. Weird that the older Apple TV 4K boxes can't handle it.
Extremely weird. I’m thinking it will be available to more devices later. I can’t think of anything that would require a feature like this be limited to the newest device.

Not sure why you need an M1 iPad Pro to run this, but the A13 iPad and iPhone 11 works just as well. This is definitely artificial segmentation and nothing to do with the tech needed to run this feature.

Profit. Forcing you to upgrade to get features that your current hardware could easily handle is the only reason to limit features to the newest products.

This is an awesome new feature that I’ll use more than any new classical music interface. However, this quote from the Apple Newsroom is from August 2021: “Apple Music plans to launch a dedicated classical music app next year combining Primephonic’s classical user interface that fans have grown to love with more added features.” Their deadline is coming up, and the last software update of 2022 now appears locked in.

I guess they can just launch this on the App Store in the next few weeks but…what’s the deal here? Why give yourself a hard deadline when you could just acquire the tech and make no promises about future products or apps?
