Apple Music Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and Apple Music Lossless quality started rolling out to Apple Music users last week, but customers in India have noticed that the two new features are not yet available.

On Twitter, Apple Music users in India have been questioning why Spatial Audio is not available and when it might be launching, especially because the feature has been coming and going for some users. Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio has not yet officially launched in India, but Apple has not forgotten about the country and has confirmed that spatial audio is debuting soon.

The Apple Music website in India has a "coming soon" tag for Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio. There is no specific launch date available as of yet, but because some users have been seeing the options appear and disappear, it's likely Apple Music subscribers in India won't have too much longer to wait.

How is Apple Music popular in India?

It’s quite cheap compared to US or maybe other countries. When I was in US I think I paid $10 a month just for myself. I pay less than $3 for the family plan. The phone costs 70% more so I guess it’s Apple’s way of saying thanks for buying our phone.

Forgot to mention it is quite popular but since the phones are so expensive there aren’t those many buyers so numbers are just low for Apple Music. Most people with iPhone might have Apple Music than they would have other subscriptions.

Ah, so the world wide rollout is not finished yet.

Good. I thought I was going crazy when my settings app would show the quality settings for a split second and go away.

Man, Apple devices are very popular in India atleast with the upper middle class and above folks. Even if that’s just 20% of the population, that’s still an enormous market given the huge population. Sure the sales figures are low, but most of us just import the devices through the plethora of friends we have coming from the States and it doesn’t really reflect in the Indian sales figures. You guys whine about the iPhone pro models starting at 999$ there and there are so many people here who still buy the same stuff effortlessly for 1500$ and still upgrade every year. Apple Music costs just 20$ here for the whole year or 10$ for a student. People are easily ready and already pay a 50% premium for the iPhone here, 20 more bucks is like nothing.

20% would be around 260 million, about the US adult population.

Highly disappointed with how apple has dealt with this in India. There are absolutely no updates or any information, complete radio silence. If you have some issues, say so but nothing.

Even android on beta has started getting lossless.

Even before Apple own speakers! (which apparently will get lossless.... in the fall!).

Since no one can hear the difference between compressed and lossless sound (even Apple's own music chief recently admitted he cannot hear the difference), it doesn't really matter. Lossless format for streaming is pure snake oil... Uncompressed audio usefulness is when mixing, mastering and processing audio, not for listening.

When you launch new features, you should give priority to your own hardware. Simple as that.

my av receiver, a middle-high range yamaha, plays only core audio (truehd or dd+) when i input dolby atmos while still having only a 5.1 config. it's fair, as for atmos (or dts-x) additional speakers are needed (min. 5.1.x). otherwise atmos is pointless...saying this, atmos on phone speakers is.... sorry i don't have words to describe this
