I used this when I switched from Spotify to Apple Music and it worked flawlessly for me. Every once in a while in my playlists I'll find a song that's a different artist than what it should be, like a cover of a song, but easy to fix myself.

The feature appears to be a collaborative effort with SongShift,
Very happy to hear this. I’ve used SongShift ever since they launched. Helped TestFlight it to where it’s at today. It’s an amazing service and I’m proud of them for partnering with Apple! Happy to hear that vs the alternative of them just getting trampled into non-existence.

I tried both the paid versions of Songshift and FreeYourMusic to transfer music from Spotify to Apple Music and both were mediocre, in my opinion.
Huh, I've had very good results with Songshift, even just using the free version.

MacRumors has now independently confirmed that the references are indeed in the APK, or Android Package Kit.

Seems like fake news to me.

I downloaded the same exact version (4.7.0 1359) from apkmirror.com.

I then unpacked the APK and used grep to search inside the package resources for "Songshift" (obviously using all the relevant flags such as "case insensitive", "all the files", "recursive" and so on).

No results.

How did MacRumors "independently confirmed that the references are indeed in the APK"?

"Powered by SongShift"

Apple should develop the SW on their own, if they need "help" for things like importing music from a different app library, How they're planning do achieve the "new super-advanced" Siri model in iOS 18?
I would assume that Spotify are in full control of who can & can't access their API and the terms that developers must sign-up to. IANAL but I'd be pretty astonished if Apple could successfully sign-up as a Spotify developer, so I'm guessing they have to use a third party for this.

In fact it wouldn't surprise me if the lawyers at Spotify are now going through their developer T&Cs with a fine tooth comb to see if they can boot SongShift off the platform. It must be a big legal risk for the SongShift guys.

I have been transferring my playlists from Spotify to Apple Music and vice-versa for a long time. I tried both SongShift and FreeYourMusic but I wasn't happy with their results. However, I am very satisfied with the accuracy of MusicToMusic.

I tried both the paid versions of Songshift and FreeYourMusic to transfer music from Spotify to Apple Music and both were mediocre, in my opinion. I eventually used Playlisty, which is specifically made to transfer music to Apple Music and it is absolutely amazing. Almost all hits were perfect matches. It's also cheap, just a one time payment of 2,99. Therefore I recommend everyone that wants to transfer their music to Apple Music to use playlisty.
Says the newly made Macrumors account that was created by playlisty PR team...

I would love Apple Music to be testing a feature that just lets you upload your library to the cloud. I spent years curating my library, managing different song versions, fine tuning album art and metadata. AM will screw that all up by “matching” songs with what it thinks I want out of its library. So I’ve never been able to use Apple Music or any of its useful features. This is one area where “Apple knows best” is a royal pain.
then they’d actually have to provide you with storage space and not just charge you for virtually nothing

Even if Apple provides an answer to importing playlists and whatnot, my worry is how Apple Music will handle playback. I like that I can be playing a song on my phone, jump to my Windows or Mac and pick up without missing a beat, continuing to control my playlist through my phone while it's playing on the preferred device.

Is Apple Music that seamless? Because even if I can move my playlists over, that'd be a major step back losing that ability.

It'd also suck to lose things like Jam Sessions, along with the people and podcasts I follow, the people who follow me, and so on. I'm not sure how fleshed out the Apple Music community is, if one even exists...

Though there have been different ways/services available to transfer, it is good to see direct integration with Apple Music.

Did this ever end up releasing, or mentioned again?
Nope - turned-out to be complete BS. Can't see how it could ever have happened: Apple couldn't release this without Spotify's approval and let's face it, hell would freeze over first.
