That is your taste; your opinion.Art is art if created by a human. Otherwise it’s garbage.
Art has to be synthetic, or artificial. A teee can be beautiful, but it’s not art. I can be a component in a piece of art, as an element in a garden.@turbineseaplane downvotes my post and I am gratified because I was fairly certain I was on their block list from prior ideologic activity.
Allow me to posit this: What is or is not art and what is or is not taste for the same?
I don't care for seafood, lobster and crab is gross, to my taste. Some agree and some disagree. What is the established metric on individual tastes? There isn't one. It's a matter of opinion.
To be clear, I tend to favor rock music from 1977 because I believe that is the high point of artistry in the genre, but I'm not closed to any sound because of how or when it was generated.
Art is art even if it is synthetic
We'll said, but I suggest the products value is how it is perceived- accepted or rejected by the listener/viewer.Art has to be synthetic, or artificial. A teee can be beautiful, but it’s not art. I can be a component in a piece of art, as an element in a garden.
What makes art into art is that a human being directly structures the components and directly uses tools to make the thing.
Electronic music is art, Completely AI generated “music” is not. Giving a prompt “genre x with theme y” isn’t enough to say “I’m an artist”. Prompting an AI to write a book from prompts doesn’t make the promoter an author.
Taste is simply your preference in what you find enjoyable or interesting.
Sounds like what people have been saying for at least hundreds of years. If you can’t find good music written after the 1990s you aren’t looking. The time will come when AI content becomes undetectable.
As far as I'm concerned, great music fell ill in the 1990s and died with the new century. Pretty much everything since then has been insipid and mind-numbing.
Yes but that music could need a human written prompt, that prompt could be quite sophisticated. It may go through a number of iterations before it’s done. There's a world of difference between a human using a computer and its tooling to help create their music and straight up AI generated songs.
Hundreds? Time travelers have been saying that since cassette tape certainly.Sounds like what people have been saying for at least hundreds of years. If you can’t find good music written after the 1990s you aren’t looking.
Let me guess, at least 20% artificial classic.I mean I mostly listen to classical music but thanks I guess lol
Exactly this! How about just not allowing AI-generated songs period?
Beethoven is AI for you? Don't worry I know what I listen to !Let me guess, at least 20% artificial classic.
Believe me, the slop is everywhere. Because there is money to make.
If the AI was prompted by a human, then what?In this case, the “artist” is an AI.
No thank you
A music teacher at my son’s music school experimented with AI music generation and said the result he got was amazingly good, much better than he thought he would get. That is an extremist anti-technology position that will hurt people and do nothing. It’s always the usual suspects who take extreme positions and if you look at their posting history it is full of hatred, conspiracy theories and even pro piracy which has hurt artists more than anything.
Synthetic samples and computer generated sounds have existed in music for 60 years. You are basically advocating for a ban on electronic genres just because some anti-AI mania on the internet told you that it is cool to hate.
AI music isn’t just “Hi bot generate me a song”. It can be a thousand things from generating a beat or an effect or a voice filter. All of these have been used for decades using more primitive forms of AI and computer generation.
