No OS that I can remember has gone above the number 6 for a point update. When the OS reaches 10.X.6 they just start to issue supplemental updates and leave the .6 untouched. Very strange IMO:eek:

OK - Let me rephrase No OS that I can remember, in the last nine years, has gone above the number 6 for a point update.

10.6.8 mac os. One of the greats

The determination to have a new OS each year has stopped the refinement of the OS. Perhaps this will change with Big Sur?

The OP said it explicitly he didn't remember Apple going beyond x.x.6 in recent 9 years, not since the days of Tiger and Snow Leopard, although I could only correct that number by cutting it down to 5 years, when the first of the x.x.6 iterations was the one for ElCapitan and they were releasing only 5 updates annually for 4 years before that. However, the whole thing does indeed look ridiculous. Of course, we know they're not going to get back to the 1.5, let alone 2 years OS development cycle: that would be too big of a concession for their users.
