I present to you... the BLACKBOOK! Get it? It's a MacBook... but black...
The black color variant of the MacBook (Plastic) Poly carbonate models were offered from 2006 to late 2008 at a price gap of +$100 just for the black color, leading most consumers to purchase the white (and at the time), more unique Apple laptop. The Black MacBook is a very sought after MacBook for collectors, and it's an extremely sexy looking laptop.

Black has always been a great colour for laptops, and computers in general. No reason why Macs should be any different here. A bit more difficult to do with aluminium laptops, but I'm sure they could go a few shades darker than space grey.

Not sure why you think it would be difficult it's only a protective coating you see and not the base metal, hence the Gold and Rose ones for example

I think it would be difficult to achieve a true black on aluminium that didn't scratch really badly. I'm happy to be proved wrong though.

Apple coatings are pretty good and I understand your point that dark colours would show scratches down to the base metal far more noticeable than lighter colours

However

I understand hard coatings are extremely wear/scratch resistant and are often tested to US military specs with abrasive wheels for over 10000 cycles at 70 rpm

Maybe dark colours need a higher spec or thickness than current ones, not harder just more expensive maybe :)

All the current colours wear and when scratched the coating comes off. Dont like any of them. Would like space grey but they wear badly over time so silver it is for me.

I quite like the SG shade of the MacBooks, it’s one of the darker versions already and looks quite sleek. Think that’s the modern incarnation tbh...

Loved my black MacBook. Still have it and still runs.

Looked great, stood out in a crowd and really looked serious and impressive in business meetings.
Still have my working IceBook, too.

How about a black Stainless Steel MacBook - just like the iPhone X and Apple Watch? ;)
On a more serious note, though, I'd love to see another completely black MB, maybe just like Razer's Blade Stealth - that thing looks stunning!

Yeah, nice! Stainless steel MacBook, and then release the Mac OS with brushed metal GUI again. Perfect match! :)

I had MacBook Black 2008 Model in perfect condition. I installed on it El Capitan. But I sold it as I have newer model.

I bought one ('08 model I believe) this past spring. Pretty good shape except the Apple logo looks like it is yellowed and dim. Anybody know if that is a backlight issue? Or just the screen getting tired?

[doublepost=1540172084][/doublepost]I bought one earlier this year and just put in 6GB of memory and it works great. Very snappy and responsive. I had one when they first were offered then gave it away. So when I saw this one on ebay for 130.00 I was very happy. It is in perfect condition. I'm glad to add it to my growing Mac collection...

I purchased mine for $50 (including tax). Came with a charger and a "battery". I say battery like that because it only holds a 2 hour charge, or an hour if I put the thing under heavy load. Laptop works great and is a really slick looking machine, especially from its time.

[doublepost=1540400110][/doublepost]Wow, I thought I got a great deal... that’s awesome! You can probably pick up a battery on amazon and still be under what I spent! Enjoy the cool Black Macbook my friend!

It’d probably be too expensive/ complex to produce but an iPhone 7 like Jet black finish would look incredible - at least until it got all fingerprinty :D
