I wish It had a little thickness to it, I think the more thin it is the less grip it has to it and its less sturdier, if was aluminum and like 10-11mm thick then it would be perfect for me.

iPod touch Apple needs to get over their thin obsession

What can I say, I like to be thorough 😉 I figure people will take me more seriously than slapping down a one sentence thread starter like most 😎
But in a sort of response to something someone mentioned -the size of the device being uncomfortable to hold is the lesser problem. I can get over that. I just don't like that hardware is comprised for the sake of thinness. The Touch didn't need to be any thinner. The only person who cares about thinness is Steve. Even the media hardly makes note of it anymore. If they make it thicker in the future, this will be the response: "Apple increased the devices thickness by 2 mm.....BUT they included a 5 megapixel camera, double the battery life, 128 GB, and a GPS chip!" So maybe that's a bit of wishful thinking, but you see my point. No one cares about thickness as long as it's reasonable. I think someone said that a thickness between the 3rd Generation Touch and the iPhone 4 would be perfect - I agree
I would have to agree that thin is irrelevant to most customers. I have a 2nd gen iPod touch, and it almost feels too thin. Now the 4th gen is even thinner?
As far as functionality of the cameras, I am satisfied with what Apple has put in the 4th gen. It does concern me for future touch's, which will presumably have improvements in the cameras over time. The thinness could limit the quality of those cameras.
They should have kept the same thickness and crammed more battery in there.

The less material they need to use on each iPod, the more money they make on each. It's pretty simple. They did enough to this new version to entice people to upgrade, there's no question about it, I am. When it comes down to it, they love to say they do what they do for the customer, but really, it's about making money. Every cent they can save on the construction of each unit puts thousands of dollars in their pocket over the long hall.
OP, in my opinion, the thinness of the new touch did not cause the compromise of the camera's quality; Apple put a worse camera in the touch for cost savings and to draw a dividing line between it and the iPhone. Same goes for IPS, because if they really wanted to, they could have shoehorned it in.
The simple fact of the matter is that iPhones are more profitable than iPod touches.
Other than that, I agree with you. I see the thinness craze across most of the portable gadget space. My HTC Incredible, for instance, is far too thin and light in my opinion. I feel as though I am going to break it at times from the slightest drop.

It's kinda like phones, for awhile they were getting so thin people were accidentally inhaling them.

I agree 100%. there comes a point when thin is TOO thin. I would have loved the same camera as the iPhone 4, even though it would mean sacrificing the thickness. However, the iPhone 4 Is seriously one of the thinnest smartphones I've ever used.
I would rather have a thin Touch with HD video and .7mp stills than a fat Touch with the iPhone 4 5mp camera. I have a 14mp still mode with my Panasonic HDC-TM700 3MOS 1080p60 camcorder and never use it in still mode since I have two DSLRs for that and other P&S cameras.
