I have the LG G3. Same 5.5 inch screen.

Side by side the iPhone 6 plus is a "big phone". Seems like it was a rush job by Apple. Clearly the leaks about the 4.8 inch iPhone (which started way back in Q2 of 2012 way before the 5S launch). The 4.8 inch iPhone turned out to be the 4.7 inch iPhone obviously.

So very few 5.5 inch leaks. Don't think Apple did a good design job on it. They can easily move the home button to the back like LG did to save on space and make it "smaller". Doesn't Apple like to make things "smaller?".

They will, in the iPhone 7.
Touch ID will be embedded in the bottom of the screen.
There'll also be a whole section at the bottom of the screen that is pressure sensitive, possibly clickable, that works as the home button.

Of course, this is just a guess based on patents they've filed and the expectation that 7 will be a bit of a redesign if they follow the pattern so far...

You forget Apple is also about making beautiful things. Moving the button to the back is ugly. Then you'd have an ugly iPhone.
