Apple News background usage excessive.

Would anyone happen to know why Apple News is always being used in the background? I have background refresh switched off for this app. Thanks.

I had the same issue and uninstalled the app. Couldn't find a way to fix it either. Background app refresh was turned off and I "killed" the app, it still continued to use up a bunch of battery.

Are you using the app in a widget? If so, that can use battery even though background app refresh is turned off.

Solid point. I’m not I just checked, even made sure it wasn’t a widget card or whatever they call it. Cheers.
