I have just joined the iOS 14 Beta.

I have been reading quite a few of the threads prior to making the move.

Previously I was extremely critical of Apple News and the very poor implementation of Dark Mode – in my opinion.

The reason was that although the menus were dark, when you selected an article it instantly switched to a white background which was unprofessional, jarring & defeated the purpose.

I’m really pleased to see that in the Beta that the app is now fully Dark if you have it selected that way!!!!

I’m loving it!

. . . Another nice new thing for News+ subscribers, the articles are finally in dark mode too, not just the UI! No more blinding myself at night!

My news app doesn’t even load anything now after beta 5 download. Anyone know a fix? I deleted the app and re-downloaded the app, restarted the phone and nothing.

I have a different issue in that the app is refreshing too much. Literally every time I back out of an article - sometimes resulting in duplicates appearing.

Unfortunately given that our iPhones are all different due to the apps we individuallyhave on them during a Beta people will often have differing experiences.

Apple will understandably focus on builds that have increased stability for the masses.

Back to topic, seems I jumped the gun a little. Although many more articles now display in Dark Mode, which is a most welcome change, there are still some that have a Bright White background.

Hoping this will change by the GM.

I’ve sent feedback to suggest this to Apple.

I have that issue as well, it's infuriating that I can't go back to the article I was reading before. I just assumed it was iOS crappy handling of background apps, but hopefully it's a bug.

Also I have been wishing for all articles to be dark for a long time now, that's why I prefer Microsoft News as they manage to get every single article dark. I note plenty of Apple News articles that are still bright white even on the newest public beta, but definitely an improvement. Now if I could just have them stop putting in Apple Plus articles every 4th or 5th article.

Beta 6 fixed the issue I've been having with News. Since beta 2, News would only allow me to see a few articles, then top 5 and it would say "loading" when I tried to scroll down to read other content. It finally works in beta 6 and I have the normal News experience.
