Canada isn't the USA (close...but no cigar) but there are so many things where Canada is lumped in with the US that it was surprising (and probably infuriating for many) that there was no availability of this in Canada especially considering that most Canadians (that I know at least) do get part of their news (International, US) from major US networks. UK, Australia/NZ or Europe for example I can kind of get - but even then apps like Flipboard make generating a customized feed seem surprisingly easy.
So even if Apple had included Apple News in Canada from day one with just no local Canadian news outlets to start - that would have made more sense than what Apple actually did (to me at least). And even with that initial limitation it would have still been used by a lot of Canadians anyway for the International/US news.

Finally Apple, thank you!! I have been using the News widget daily since I can remember. The content is from Canadian sources and extremely relevant to what’s being talked about (locally and international). I tried Google News and it was too American for me. Glad to hear that the News app is finally here; I’m growing too old waiting for things to happen at Apple Canada that’s already been announced by Apple US.

I agree. Apple News initially came out in iOS 9 in 2015!!! At this point I thought it was just never gonna come to Canada. Better late than never. I look forward to checking it out on my 12.9" iPad Pro.

LMAO! I live in Canada and it says Macrumours news is not available in my region. That doesn’t even make sense. Back to google news I go
