Honestly Apple nailed this. I wish they would have the same care with other iOS features.

I do still like to curate my own recipe's though in case these sites don’t exist in 30 years I’ll at least have a screenshot of a recipe.

With the launch of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4, Apple rolled out a new Apple News+ Food feature that is available for all Apple News+ subscribers.

Apple News+ Food offers tens of thousands of recipes, that users can browse through.
Fed up of subscriptions, no appetite for any more of them.
Subscribe to News+ so you can get access to all those delicious News+ Food recipes to help reinvigorate your appetite

What’s the demographic for the Apple News service?

What could Apple possibly add to news to give it value over anyone else? Especially considering how toxic the news media is to many people now.

Apple keeps offering me online services with the devices I buy and all of them seems unattractive even when free.

Doesn't seem to be available in Canada on any of my devices. It's one feature I'd really like to have.

Apple Intelligence could take this to another level by giving you the ability to enter some ingredients and then getting recipes that use them. That would be helpful for times when you open the pantry or fridge and think: "I have ____, ____ and ____. Wonder what I could make with that."
“Hey Siri, here’s what I have under the kitchen sink, in the pantry, and in the medicine cabinet: _____, _____ and ______. What else do I need to make meth? . . . Hey Siri, add these items to my Amazon cart . . . Thanks Siri.”

Whoever they are, I am in it. I'm a politics prof... so take that for what you will, demographics wise

Apple News+ is in my top 3 Apple One services and an under appreciated hidden gem. If you read any news or magazines, the amount of times you hit a paywall on the web drops to near zero if you subscribe to Apple News+

My GQ, Time, Toronto Life and local newspaper subscriptions used to cost me 3X more than I pay for Apple News+ and I get hundreds of other magazines and no pay walls reading the news.

I'm glad to see Apple continue to develop the platform.

I don't see it.

iPhone 16 Pro
Apple One Premium Subscriber
Canada, French

Is it restricted to some region or language ?

I will second what everyone else is saying about letting us completely switch off sports, and I will add that when I block a topic or newspaper or website, I don’t wanna see it anywhere. I don’t even wanna know that it’s there and it’s blocked. Are you listening, Apple?

Good to know. But would have been better if the service was launched as a separate app and was made available to all the users across the world. With very limited availability of News+, access to it is very much restricted.

Does not appear that it exists on MacOS as others have questioned / alluded to.
Just type "Food" in the Search box and you'll find it (along with in the list at the bottom):

The Apple Maps preferred Language option appeared in Beta 1 or 2, I can't remember, but then disappeared. Its no longer there. Annoying because I switched it to German whereas my native language is English. Now that the option has gone, the setting seems permanent. It affects all my devices and carplay. So annoying.

The entire Apple Maps interface is in German, whereas my phone language is English UK. iPhone 16 PM

Apple News+ Food offers tens of thousands of recipes, that users can browse through. There are built-in filter and search tools for finding specific recipes, and new content is added daily. Favorite recipes can be saved for access later, and Apple has designed a special format for recipes.

Recipes are displayed with a list of ingredients that can be checked off while cooking, and users can tap any ingredient to see the amount needed for the current step. Timers can be set by tapping on a highlighted duration in the recipe, and there is a "cook" mode that provides step-by-step cooking instructions in a full-screen view.

Along with an extensive recipe catalog, Apple News+ Food includes stories about local restaurants, information on kitchen essentials, tips on healthy eating, and more. Content is sourced from major food publishers like Allrecipes, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Good Food, and Serious Eats.

While Apple News+ Food is a feature that is designed for Apple News+ subscribers, Apple does make select stories and recipes available for non-subscribers as well.

Apple News+ is priced at $12.99 per month, and it is also included in the Apple One Premier plan for $37.95 per month. Along with the new Apple News+ Food feature, Apple News+ includes access to over 400 magazines, and news from newspapers like The Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times.

I’d just be happy if Apple News made it to New Zealand!!

Anyone knows if those "notifications" for double and triple back tap can be turned off? I use double tap to turn the page when I'm reading a book and it would be very inconvenient if I'd have this notification each time...

No doubt that will come for sure.

But in the meantime, I'm not normally one for plugging my own stuff but in this case I can't resist, I have built an app that does that amongst other things, feel free to check it out at www.sizzle-app.com

People that can read, and do it a lot. Far cheaper than subscribing to sources individually.

Yep, and your response will be "let me see if I can locate that on the internet for you.."

"Apple Intelligence" exists only as a marketing term.

This is why they need to scrap the Siri name, animations, well known responses, everything.

They need to bury Siri like they buried MobileMe.

Their reputation with Siri is more tarnished than MobileMe ever was, or anything else they've ever done. Not just because of this most recent thing. Because of their decade of history of flat out denial, borderline gaslighting their users just saying over and over that Siri is great.

Even when they announced the delay, they started the paragraph saying how much Siri helps Apple users every day. They are just institutionally incapable of admitting anything they do is less than perfect and it's starting to become glaringly hypocritical.
