I always wondered why they did that integration in the first place.

So that they can develop the integration quickly without needing to prematurely commit to a public interface. Now that the interface is stable and public, there's no need for its private counterparts.

I'm disappointed by this, mainly because I liked having my contacts updated with their most current profile pic. Now I'll have to use an app for that :/

Good. If there's no technical need for them to have special integration, then Apple eliminates any perception of the more anti-privacy of those services from having special permissions and access on the device, real or imagined.

A considerable portion of the value of security is in creating the perception of security.

So this means we will no longer be able to sync birthdays from Facebook to our calendar app? What about Contact photos from Facebook? I like those features.

Everyone needs to delete their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Why? I like twitter.

Write them a letter, call them on the phone, text or simply FaceTime them. Quality communication is more effective than passively double-tapping a context-less photo.

Why do you care how people communicate?

Why can't they bring back the FB/Twitter integration that was introduced in iOS 5/6. It was great to post from the Notification Center much like you can do on MacOS right now. So convenient.

What's the workaround?

I'm still seeing the Twitter icon in my share sheet but is says "No Twitter Account" when I tap it?

Also, Facebook share is still working for me.

No, it'll just utilize the share sheet extension instead. Any app can add an item to the share sheet - Twitter and Facebook already have their own share sheet extension. Long story short, you're really not going to notice a difference at all...

Sorry, but I have to say the "share sheet" doesn't appear to work at present. When trying to share content from an App the users encounters an error to inform them that no account is present for the selected service and that this should be entered in the Settings. When navigating to Settings the option is obviously absent so the content cannot be shared directly.

I'm assuming your using iOS 11 beta...in which case, it's a beta, there are going to be bugs. Submit a bug report to Apple so it can get fixed.

The feedback requesting a “bug fix” was submitted over the weekend. My concern is that Apple don’t actually view this as a bug.

Good.
I applaud this. I don't use social media and would prefer it not being built into the O/S.
Yes, I do realise not using Facebook, twitter, etc., makes me a bit of a dinosaur.

I don't quite see why someone would prefer features to not be available, seemingly on the basis that they won't use those features themselves.

I've used the share to Twitter feature a fair bit for work - take a photo, share straight to Twitter; and it appears in the Twitter widget on the website - and it's been a very useful feature.

The argument that you can just fire up the Twitter app and do the same thing from there is all well and good, but it's not as easy.

I'm failing to see what the actual benefit is in removing the feature, other than irritating people who used to use it?

You mean the share sheet like this which is broken af in iOS 11? They’ve jacked up so much with this update. You try to upload a photo from the photos app, using their share sheet and it tells you no twitter account. Yet, it stills posts. Also, they’ve broken ways to allow twitter and FB to allow acces from apps. For instance; if you have an unfollowers app that tracks when you people follow or unfollow you on twitter, it’s also broken, because you get an error stating there’s no twitter account or the app hasn’t been given permission. And, you can’t give it permission cause the setting isn’t there.

You're still running a beta. File a bug report with Apple so they can fix it.

Omg! You’re a freakin’ genius! How did I never think of that?!

No need to get snarky. Simply pointing out that instead of bitching about a bug in beta software on some random forum you can actually do something proactive to get the issue resolved.

Facebook works fine. Twitter states no account. It has been reported by me. I’ll get snarky and bitch anywhere I want.
[doublepost=1502818334][/doublepost]Well, after 24 hours of use on beta 6, I can confirm the battery is still garbage. iPhone 7. Try again in a week.

Cool, whatever works for you.

My 7, wife’s 7plus and Work 5S are all garbage. Maybe you got lucky

One thing you can try is updating from iTunes using one of the restore images - sometimes doing a full update vs an over-the-air delta update can fix some lingering issues.

3 devices doing the same thing and countless threads with people having the same issue. Nay, I think I’ll wait for Apple to turn off debugging in a release. There’s nothing lingering on my stuff.
